Bright spark first half.

He's so much better than Willock. Much stronger, ball sticks to his feet, quick thinker. No comparison really outside of the fact they're both midfielders who like to carry the ball forward

Let's hope it was just pre-cautionary and hes fine after the international break

We need to see some tactical progression from Howe to get the best out of our players.

We're screaming for a double-pivot with a 10 behind a 9, and Ramsey can be that 10.

Double pivot...fuck my life.

Looked a bit lost early doors - seen him in no man's land at the start and a bit lost bit seemingly Sandro directed him and then Tino and he kinda slotted in. Looks promising in and around the area I think.

I believe he would've been the first player subbed today, he had a good game but we looked open in the midfield so I was expecting the tactical sub.

Emm... Bruno was also playing midfield. Shhhhhhhhhh!

Looked good imo and long term will be great in the Joelinton position.

I am concerned about his fragility.

He’s not that player man, he’s not robust enough for that game.

He did fine - you could tell he felt a bit uncomfortable, and Eddie probably didn't want him to start today so he has been shoe-horned in.

We need a set of teeth up front, which we seem to now have, so the excuses will hopefully run out soon.

Then where is he going to play?

Hes not the guile for 10.  Not a LW.

He’s a LCM in a 3 imo which is why he struggled under Emery who played him in that LW/LAM position which is too far forward for him imo. He needs space to drive into.

I’m not disagreeing on the LCM, I’m saying I don’t expect he delivers the same physical output as Joelinton there.

I don’t think we will see the 4/3/3 beyond this season either, not consistently anyway.

They're 2 different types for me. Ramsay is perhaps more akin to Bruno I'd say (out of our existing 3) recieving the ball and playing intricate 1-2s to open up play.

Except I think Ramsay will do that with greater speed and intensity, whereas Bruno will be more measured and spatially aware / spreading play.

Joelinton is somewhat unique, and is our big bastard. <3

Ramsey looks more like a Joe Willock type to me, more about pace and attacking prowess. I don't know if he has the tenacity you would expect from a specialist midfielder, but I haven't paid that much attention to him while he was at Villa.

There was a moment in the first half where the pitch opened up and he had room to really drive but he tried a sloppy through ball. Hope he still has that drive like attribute in him that I saw in all the comps and the injuries haven't taken it out of him.

I don’t think Ramsey suits anything but a LCM in a 3 though. While he’s tidy technically, that part of his game isn’t even as good as McGinn - yet.  Which is why McGinn was trusted to play everywhere from the start and Ramsey wasn’t.

From what I’ve seen his game is heavily reliant on driving from deep in midfield with the ball. That’s Willock and Joelinton.  He’s better than them both technically but he’s not a pass and move man like Bruno.

I agree he doesn’t bring the physicality but he doesn’t have too.

We are desperate for a pass and move man in midfield with a penetrative pass. Doesn’t seem like Howe wants one.
