I think you're vastly underestimating the level of the PL. If it were that easy to hit double figures way more players would be doing it.

I get what you're saying in that he clearly wasn't first on the list. But we are probably talking about two different lists, knowing what we know now. There was the 'Isak replacement' list. Pedro, Ekitike, Sesko. Then there's the 'Wilson replacement' list. I think as this window has gone on with the level of uncertainty a separate category has emerged of lads who could potentially be both. I think that's what they may see this lad as.

Just think we create enough via the wings that you just need a competent striker to score every 4/5 games in all competitions to hit 10. No doubt in my mind Gordon would if he was stuck there all year.

Agree about the lists too, I just hope we have considered this very thoroughly. It’s a huge price for a middle of the road player.

I’ll be gutted if we spend £100-110m on SL & Wissa, and I say that as someone who likes Wissa.

He's more proven than Sesko and Gyokeres at this level, yet people would've happily spunked the same money for them because they weren't playing for Wolves. Seen Vlahovic mentioned as a better option, I'd love to know the rationale as he's dropped way off from what I've seen of him.

14 premier league goals in a shite team, unfortunately just comes at a premium nowadays. Add on the fact that we're desperate. Add on the fact that there's no time for the selling club to replace him. There is no value to be found in any striker for us at this stage without taking a monumental gamble on their suitability.

£60-70m is not overpaying if he scores enough goals to get us back into Europe next season, or to kick us through to the knockout phases of the CL.

What we gonna do when they knock back 60 though? As their bound too lol

Its farcical that no-one has a price to us, whatever we offer they say ... no not that

Why aren't we saying what would you be prepared to accept and qalk.away, save all the fucking angst and prevarication

There isn't a "Wilson" replacement in my opinion. We are going to try to buy two good strikers who give us different things. Neither will be Isak quality, but both together will offer more to the squad than we've had.

Agreed.

Because it was agreed at last year's prices.

Like it or not, we aren't getting any proven PL strikers for less than £50m+ in this summers market.

Only shopping in the PL market is a choice and bad one imo.

there's going to be a striker/attacker new to the league who will score 12 or so goals and become "proven PL striker" for half the money we spend on Larsen.

It is what it is. Just wish we were a bit braver in the transfer market.

If we sign Strand Larsen, We are selling Isak imo.  We may not get a second striker but we are selling Isak.

I would prefer that to overspending on 2 strikers in their mid 20’s with lower ceilings.

I agree with this, if we get JSL through the door we will sell Isick and bid enough to get Wissa - getting rid of the snake and giving our attack depth and options, IMHO.

I agree with the general point, but we need as close to a guarantee as we can get in the circumstances.

And he also went for £55m plus add ons no? So not exactly a different ball park of fee

I was replying to a comment that said we could have had Pedro for that ballpark fee

Which completely ignored the fact that he didn’t want to sign for NUFC, he wanted to sign for Chelsea

So we couldn’t have had him for that ballpark fee, because he didn’t want to join us

Its probable we looked but weren't comfortable with anything we saw as we were quite happy to go for Elitike and Sesko.
