Wonder if we'll go Woltemessi vs Wolves with Wissa sub to keep Wissa fresh and cool for starting vs Barca.

Can you imagine striving to get to a club and play Champions League, and your first match being vs Barcelona at SJP under the lights? You’d need cojones the size of peaches to not be overawed.

Throw him in I say. If his balls are big enough he'll float. If not he'll sink and we can move on without investing too much time in him.

As Newcastle look to kickstart their season with a win over Wanderers at a packed-out St James' Park, Woltemade can't wait to repay the faith shown in him by new boss Eddie Howe.

Woltemade said: "Even though it was the first meeting it felt like I'd known him a long time.

"It just felt really good. We were laughing and talking (like friends).

"It was just about football, and that is important to me, to feel good. If I have a person like that, where I can feel good and feel myself, it's good.

"When you can talk with your coach, not just about football, that is so important."

The 6ft 6in striker had spoken to Howe over a video link during initial transfer talks and when opening up on his first meeting said:

"When I met Eddie in person, I said: 'Don't be shocked, I'm really tall!' But when I met him, I felt really happy, it didn't feel like the first time.

"I don't know the players personally yet, but I have met them and they have been really good to me. I am now just looking forward to playing with them."

I think he may play a Firmino type role for us, at least at first. Coming deep and linking play. He's got good strength and great feet.

Ofc what made Firmino so effective in his role was Salah and Sane either side of him, stretching the play and scoring.

I'm speculating that EH would want to try and emulate that with Wissa and Elanga on the flanks. Our two aren't the same calibre at all but, we can see what it does if we play that way :dontknow:

From the little i've seen, I think he wants to avoid a bit of contact at first. He doesn't have that Suarez bundle his way through defenders playing style, he's trying to beat them with skill.

He's one i'm giving 18-24 months before drawing any major conclusions. He's not even scored 15 Bundesliga goals in his career. We may play him deeper at points this season but with Isak and Etikite as targets and Wissa, Pedro, Sesko to some extent, I think Howe likes a skilful 9. Which to some degree, negates the need for a skilfil AM/10.

All hypotheses - exited to see how we play over the next few games. My feeling is a 60/30-70/20 split in a 433 or both in a 5 or when chasing

Will he eventually be awesome. Yes
Will it happen in first 10 games. No
Will his first bad game lead to forum meltdown. Yes

And I for one, am thoroughly looking forward to it.
