Since 2020?

1. Lewis

2. Targett (perm)

3. Hendrick

Suppose you could go with the loan deals in Jan 2020 which might mix things up but I think better to stick with permanent signings.

Fraser was shocking for the wages and signing on fee paid.

£13M for a local boy who has become a starting England CB keeping similar players valued at £60-£70M seems good value to me.

1. Burn

2. Trippier

3. Bruno

Tonali is our best player, but you can't forget about the ban and how long we had to wait for him to show his talent. Those 3 came in and lifted us instantly.

Spoilt for choice, really. Since the takeover, I can't think of a transfer that hasn't worked out well.

Bruno - All in from the start. Signed when we were in relegation trouble, with no buy-out clause. He and Eddie epitomise the spirit of our revived club.

Isak - Putting aside the way it ended, we did sign someone who turned out to be one of the best players in the world.

Trippier - This was a signing that I think gave us some credibility when the situation looked dire. Although I didn't know it at the time, it was a turning point.

Tonali is very unlucky to miss out. I think he's still improving, which of course is great to see after a dreadful start.

Not in my top three, but Wood deserves an honourable mention as he was a key player in helping to keep us up. Also got a decent fee when we moved him on.

This is ridiculous thread really as we could make a case for nearly every post-takeover player😂

1. Trippier - the player who started our transformation. As a leader he's been incredible and for the first couple of years he was a world class right back. Then he had probably the biggest drop off of any player I've seen for us but glad he's had a revival and played so well in the cup final.

2. Bruno - only just behind. Had faith in the project even though we were rock bottom. As a player, he's been immense and his love and passion for the club will establish him as a legend long after he's retired.

3. Isak - controversial perhaps (and very harsh on Dan Burn) but realising the potential of a player who had lost his way into one of the world's best players is an incredible achievement by Howe. It was a privilege to watch him play for us. It is devastating it had to end so badly but at least we came out of it with £125m.

For obvious reasons Howe is the clear number 1 if he counts while Bruno personifies the whole journey we’ve been on since the takeover. A talented headcase who took a chance on us when we were on the ropes and then has completely fallen in love with the club and area while leading us to a trophy. I’ve named my robot vacuum Bruno and it’ll be a dark, dark day if I ever have to change that.

I’ll add Burn as 3 because I was still crying uncontrollably well into the half time break when he scored against PSG. That was the moment I felt we had truly made it out of the dark times and him being the scorer felt like a victory for all us very long suffering Geordies. I’m basing these picks mostly on emotion since I barely had a single one in the many, many years of apathy. Howe, Bruno and Burn made me care again.

1) Trippier - the catalyst for all that came after

2) Bruno - the talent upgrade we needed and our captain

3) Burn - pound for pound the best value

(Tonali best talent)

Find it interesting that at the time of the takeover most were harping on about Newcastle been title contenders within 5 years yet 4 years in probably the 2 best signings were around 12m a piece. Incredible as well that arguably our 3 best signings were the first January window when we were in the relegation zone, shows the value in buying character.

But my three would be

1. Burn - pulse of the team

2. Bruno - Nearly 4 years now and still never won a prem game he hasn't started

3. Tonali - Unashamed recency bias, Trippier probably deserves the spot but Tonali is a World XI player which is hens teeth in black and white, get giddy watching him. Wasn't even a starter a year ago, team is unimaginable without him now.

Think I’d go:

Bruno – just edges it for the no. 1 spot

Trippier – the tone-setter

Burn – Mr. Reliable

Tonali – could leapfrog Burn… if he stays and doesn’t break our hearts (need him here ‘til he’s gone grey)

Honorable mention: Tino Livramento – not quite there yet, but give it a few years and I’m sure he will be.

Surely isak is #1. Made us a cool $60m profit, AND helped us win a trophy and qualify for UCL twice. What a stunning transfer result.

#2 for me is Burn. The sheer value of that trade, and the way he has become a leader, gets him this spot.

#3 is Bruno. What a player. We paid so much less than his actual worth, and he has embraced the city.

The honorable mentions are Tino, Trippier and Tonali. Love them all.
