Hendrick Suppose you could go with the loan deals in Jan 2020 which might mix things up but I think better to stick with permanent signings. Pata
Almost impossible to choose just three. Bruno has to be number one for me, amazing we had been able to sign a player like him from that position when everyone quickly realised just how good he is. Burn second considering no one expected much and he has been a cornerstone since the signing. Probably Trippier third as he was to first big name player to commit to us and made it easier for others to join. Too many honourable mentions, Tonali has to be one of the three soon. Isak was an amazing transfer. Tino, Hall, Gordon, Botman etc. Even Minteh. Edited October 6, 2025 by Pata
Ed Vinegar
Isak would be in my top five but not my top three. I expect that's the case for a lot of people, not sure. Top five would be Trippier, Burn, Bruno, Tonali, Isak.

I absolutely adore Dan Burn and if it wasn't for Trippier he'd be a shoe-in, but I don't think you can look past a striker signing who turned to ashes the 'best since Shearer' debate. You can if it's an emotional decision that you don't get to choose and which as a football supporter is a completely legitimate perspective.
Superior Acuña
Bruno, Trippier, Burn. Probably by a distance. Isak would prob have to be next given his contribution and profit. Even removing how it ended from the equation, I’d put the others ahead of him. Edited October 6, 2025 by Superior Acuña

thomas
Think I'd go Trippier, Bruno, Pope as the three. I definitely don't despise burn as I once did but I don't hold him in the same transformative upgrade / mentality upgrade space as those three. Yorkie
I'm not saying your perspective is illegitimate, @Kid Icarus. The good thing about this debate is that it reminds you that our transfers have basically been hit after hit after hit.
Superior Acuña
Isak was class but don’t think he was as important as Trippier, Burn and Bruno in our transformation. Wilson was the main striker when we went from relegation battle to champions league.

Conjo
On ability alone Tonali, followed by Isak then Bruno. Out of them I'd only include Bruno in my top 3 though. 1. Trippier transformed us in so many ways. Signaled to other potential targets that we meant business, was integral in setting standards off the pitch and seemingly transformed the dressing room by creating unity among the players to fight for each other on the pitch, and was of course crucial for our survival with some great defending and important goals. Been supporting Newcastle and watching football since early 90's and can't remember ever seeing a fullback better than him playing for us. 2. Bruno 3. Burn

JLC
For me, it's about team, belief, sacrifice, and personal contribution to the whole Tripps Burn Bruno Others have contributed perhaps more on an individual level (Isak). Tells you all you need to know about him. So those 3 for me. Though I feel a bit awkward about this topic from an exclusion POV. Tonali, Pope and others have all been immense Ultimately, Eddie knows. AJ9
Bruno is no.1 by far for me. Captained us to a cup, raised the quality of the team massively when he arrived. So invested in the area and is the heart of the team. Trippier - brought us up levels in terms of professionalism. Pretty consistent in terms of quality. Burn - a colossus. That header. And Hendrick was a free transfer. It's hard to see any out-and-out busts, i.e. players brought in on big transfer fees who proved to be crap.

I would argue that Wood was a resounding success in the circumstances. Came in at a time when Wilson had got crocked again, nobody would deal with us and we were desperate. Came in for a fee which was in his contract as a release clause because Burnley thought nobody would be daft enough to spend it. Despite that he hit the ground running, led the line in Wilson's absence, scored goals that were instrumental in keeping us up and due to his performances we managed to recoup 60% of his initisl cost when he left which made the transfer look pretty reasonable in the end. All of this while not really (in my subjective opinion) playing to his specific strengths. Not sure what else could have reasonably been expected.
