If the fates should so cruelly conspire that victory eludes us on this most consequential of occasions, one must concede that this fixture shall, with almost Shakespearean inevitability, represent the final chapter in the managerial tenure of Mr Edward Howe, whose continued stewardship of our beloved club would become, alas, an untenable fantasy, clung to only by the deluded and the hopelessly sentimental.

I completely disagree with the this post, but you couldn’t have put it more beautifully.

So beautifully put into words that what's being said is almost inconsequential.

Hope you’re doing ok Dokko. Had a vibe from your posts that suggests things are rough, hope it’s just related to the football and how dispiriting the season’s been and that you’re doing well otherwise

Argh man. That early blitz in that match - thats the team I thought we'd be seeing barnstorming the legue this season with that cunt of a stirker leading the line (obv playing far better than he did this day!).

Fucking go for leather, Eddie man.

Chelsea are a weird team and often better away from home

we do have a good home record against them under Howe, but I don't think that will count for much unless we play very well and the crowd are up for it

they were able to make 11 changes in midweek for a routine win so should be much fresher than us and have a better squad

they're bookies favourites to win which I'd say is about right

given how stretched we are now with defensive injuries I'd probably be happy with a draw, even though it doesn't really help us in the league

Would be very impressed if we managed to get anything from this given the injuries and ridiculously short time since the last game.

I'd be disappointed if we got beat at home like. But Chelsea are going well so it will be tough.

We beat them 4-1 at home a few years ago with the likes of Ndiweni, Diallo and Alex Murphy all getting on late. That was a proper bare bones job so shows anything is possible.

Then again, Chelsea are much better than they were then.

A lot of the weirdness comes from Maresca and his crazy policy when it comes to rotation.

We did indeed make 11 changes against Cardiff but it was anything other than the routine win the result suggests. Cardiff were a very decent outfit and the result only became certain once he, Maresca, bought a couple of the first choice players .

Just on rotation they are clear indications that players at various clubs are now well into the red zone as it were and injuries are starting to stack up. Bearing in mind that over the next 42 or so days clubs like ours will be playing around 13 games for our clubs I think that’s on top of the 25 already played this season.

I have absolutely no idea what version of Chelsea will turn up but our record to date in the PL this season in away games of won 4 drawn 2 and lost 2 scoring 15 and letting in 8 isn’t too shabby but could and should have been better.

Away from home, they're a bit like we were up until this season.

They put the trash away, but struggle travelling to the better sides.
