Newcastle United 4-3 Leeds United (07/02/26) | post-match from pg. 75

Leeds were absolutely excellent, best I've seen them play in like 30 years.

First half they looked like prime Barca at times, Farke has done an incredible job there.

I can't believe our resilliance to get a win out of that.

Absolutely phenomenal result.

How on Earth are Leeds only 16th?

One of those games that willl be shown decades down the line, a true classic.

Fair play to Leeds as well, they were very good going forward and their fans will feel hard done to.

But fuck them.

Many issues still across the game, but it’s great to see that mentally it was us coming out on top in the end. Leeds had their own chances to win it, but so important it was us because it can help us properly move forward with a sharp focus to tighten up our play now we’re back in the high positions.

What a wild, wild game.

So many incredible momentum shifts. The ref was an utter knob, but I actually thought Leeds deserved such credit for their first half display.

Joelinton went through his own odyssey there. From almost getting sent off and murdering the ref in front of 52,000 people - to scoring an amazing header (which if we're honest, knowing him and his hearing ability, was a complete mishit because he was pushed [emoji38]). At that point, it was clear Leeds/the ref had made a huge mistake. They'd poked the bear, they'd made the crowd angry - and the ball was inevitably going to be sucked into the Leeds net to send us up 3-2.

But then poor Schar went down. So - the man for all seasons, for all positions - Lewis Miley went to centre back. And he was low-key the best CB we had today [emoji38] Right old Busquets.

And all the inevitability of a NUFC win was lost. And they score.

But we climb back in for that finish after a whirlwind of fixtures. To have that effort left in them. To see bodies battered, bruised and broken strewn across the pitch at FT. Bloody hell.

What a game. What a win.

Can see why Leeds haven't been beat in a while.

Joelinton has looked fucking miles better last couple games, showed some great close control, passing and; in addition to right level of aggression and really driving us forward on the break.

Wingers need to be Barnes left Murph right, if Gordon’s not happy get him fucked off.

I would have been gutted even if we'd drawn that.

For all the absolute miserable cunts on here I thought we were by far the better team and was in disbelief whenever we were behind, especially the 3rd one, which felt like the only legitimate goal if that makes sense.

We had to overcome a lot more than just Leeds in order to win that, we were on the rough end of shocking officials (though I didnt think our pen was a pen either), stoppages that halted our momentum and helped Leeds - seemingly always ending up in them scoring, and injuries.

In the end though we beat all of that, including Leeds and I thought we thoroughly deserved it. A result like that and the way we got it should do us absolute wonders.

Pope: 6.5

Miley: 9

Thiaw: 2 Botman: 6.5

Schar: 8

Hall: 7

Bruno: 9

Joelinton: 8

Tonali: 6.5 Livramento: 6.5

Barnes: 10

Woltemade: 5.5 Wissa: 5.5

Gordon: 7 Murphy: 7

Today was alway going to be hard. They have had some tough fixtures and got something out of all of them.

The referee did not help.

No chance they’ll go down if they keep playing like that though.

Except their GK, bobbins for that winner.

Some points:

  • Harvey Barnes
  • Miley was the most assured CB out of everyone who played in that position which is mental.
  • That is the sort of game where I don't really care about the performance, there was a lot of negatives, but by fuck who care, that feeling when we scored at the end is what football is about
  • 10:26 is no fucking time for a game to end, I feel bad for the Leeds fans.
  • We're 6th, thats ridiculous.
  • Harvey fucking Barnes
  • Agree
  • Schär was sound and had amazing tackles to keep us in it which is bittersweet
  • No negatives for me we both played about as well as each other, fought hard and we won :indi:
  • Aye ridiculous. Like us away on boxing day at shite o clock
  • Loving it
  • Harvey fucking Barnes
