Alberto2005
Would like Howe to try something different for this one. I know the Woltemade/Wissa combo hasn't worked but I'd like to see Woltemade played in a position that suits him. I'm not what that is probably as a second striker, and maybe go with a 4-2-3-1. TheBrownBottle
1 hour ago, Heron said: Well you're more intelligent than I am But aye. My point remains the same. How can we justify going anywhere without the desire to win...thats bizarre imo. A win here could mean 90mins from another cup and an entry into Europe again. Even if we won today and lost at home to Brentford we have another dozen or so games to potentially fix things. I think it's genuinely really sad that having won the cup last year we're so willingfully able to just throw away such opportunities already. Imagine being one of the 3 to 5k going down there to be told they're fielding their second string and sacking it off. We should definitely going there to try - I definitely wouldn’t advocate sacking it off - but we shouldn’t be playing anyone who has a knock or who is completely knackered

I would play strongest 11 but if we are losing at HT rest players for the Brentford game. We have to go for it, but yeah, if it goes to 0-3 it's over. Novocastrian
Play the second string and tell them to go for it. I know football is meant to be about romanticism etc. but we need to be pragmatic. Unfortunately we fucked it in the first leg. Running the purples into the ground is pointless.

Mattoon
Wanting to lose this to concentrate on the league is proper cuck energy, who cares about next season just yet? We fight on all fronts and see where we come out at the end of the season, we go in windmilling tonight, we might drop a lucky punch, we might not, but we have to try! It's been said to death but the league has another 14 games, plenty of opportunity to put things right if we don't make it tonight, if we lose to Villa in the FA Cup and if we crash out of the Champions League. Until then we hold on to every opportunity we have to win something as slim as it might be. Never give up, never give in, no surrender!

TheBrownBottle
There’s a part of me that thinks we have a chance if: 1) Man City play a weakened side and / or have their foot off the pedal 2) we come out of the traps in that we that the best NUFC Howe sides can and hit them with a really early goal The second one is the most important for me. Just get into them early doors and have a proper go. Worry about keeping it tight later

Worry about keeping it tight later Maybe confirmation bias but it's felt like recently we've tried to keep it tight immediately when we go ahead early. Not saying we shouldn't, just that I'll expect to be a nervous wreck if we do.

But we are capable of doing it - hopefully this being a cup match will focus minds. Howe’s record in cup competitions at NUFC is close to being incredible (hopefully this year he can fix the FA Cup issues from previous years). AJ9
We are likely getting beat here anyway, but given that we rested Woltemade and Wissa against Liverpool I’d be interested in seeing something different like a 442 with a box midfield, moving Hall into midfield and maybe sticking Burn in at left back. Failing that a 352 with Hall LWB, Wissa and Wolte up top and Ramsey/Willock as 10s, just think Tonali will struggle in midfield with that.
AyeDubbleYoo
If we score before they’re do it’ll create some level of panic. Then we’ll see what happens.
Tisd09
I know we are mostly shit against these but I want us to fight tonight, lesser teams have given Man City a game plenty of times this season, look how shite Spurs were first half on the weekend and then look at the problems they caused in the second half. Granted the game dies if Man City score first but I think we need to put the best team we can out there to cause them issues, if they are carrying an injury though I wouldn't play them. Is it worth playing Wissa in one of the winger roles but tucking in a little with Woltemade up top? As @AyeDubbleYoo says if we can score first it may cause a bit of panic. *Can't wait for Bernardo Silva to score a deflected shot off Wissa's ass in the first 5 minutes!! I was wondering this, he's played in a wider role before and rather than being out on the touchline might be better able to come inside and not leave Woltemade so isolated. Early goal for us and give it a real good go please. I don't expect us to come through this semifinal really but I'd like to see us have some adventure and not go out with a whimper. A semi final isn't a bad campaign even it it does end here.

I get the odds are against us but you don’t give up your trophy without a fight. No one is suggesting chucking the game though. I'm not saying we should play the kids, just that we have a squad so we should rotate some of the players in who haven't played as much. If they can't be trusted then they really shouldn't be here. Geordie Magpie
If we can keep up the intensity for the full 90 mins that we experienced for the second half against PSG and the first 35 mins against Liverpool then we've got a chance. If we get the first goal it's game on. Considering it's a already a tough mountain to climb and our away form is shocking, if we play well and only win by a goal and go out or narrowly lose the match on the night, if be not fussed, get battered and I won't be impressed! Doesn't matter what side we put out the chances of doing that are remote in the extreme. I just think the coming PL games are more important if we want to still have some chance of getting back in the UCL reckoning. Although I suppose you could argue that's more or less gone as well.
