The College Dropout
6 minutes ago, Fak said: An injury update from Eddie Howe ahead of tomorrow's visit of Brentford: Bruno Guimarães - "Bruno's getting closer. He did a training session on Wednesday when we were travelling. He felt pretty good. So I'll see him today and fingers crossed he'll be fit." Anthony Gordon: ""No major update on Anthony. Every chance he'll miss this game coming up at the weekend but we hope it's not a serious injury and he'll be back pretty soon." Lewis Miley: "We'll find out today [on Lewis Miley]. I'm awaiting an update on him but again it's not a serious injury and we hope he'll be back very soon." Gordon starts, Bruno and Miley out.

Hard to make a case for us winning this at the minute, but hopefully we can get one. We need to start Wissa because he's the best fit for Howe's way of playing. timeEd32
If the Europa League is the aspiration and you assume we'll not get anything at the Etihad or Emirates then we're pretty much in must win territory.

Trips is not far off costing us a goal a game at the moment sadly. Trippier has also played quite a few games just after he returned from injury. If he starts tomorrow that would be his 6th start in under 20 days. Maybe not a coincident that the only one he didn't was against PSG? Would easily even start Murphy ahead of him. Pressing high just becomes a bad option with him in the line up. He is that slow.

We’ve been awful against teams who sit in. Howe’s style of high press seems to have been found out by managers playing the % set piece game while sitting in a low block and that’s exactly what Brentford are going to do. For me it’s got to be Woltemade. Try and get the ball into him much higher up the pitch and I think we’ll be better at that with Barnes on the left too. Andy
Glad that Wissa lad isn't starting for them, caused us all sorts of problems last season.

They seem to play the percentages from whenever I’ve seen them. Transitions, direct balls, long throws and that deep in swinging corner. When I’ve seen them anyway. ExiledGeordie
Feels fairly pivotal but how many times have we said that. A loss here and you feel we’re really creaking. Any ambition of europe and we really need to win.

I’ve not watched them regularly, I just saw a stat last week that they are bottom of the table for set piece goals. Doesn’t mind they aren’t a direct sided mind. Wouldn't be against starting him on right with Wissa centre and fuck it Hall and Tonali in the middle with Woltemade as number 10, put Trippier left back and Thiaw right back with Burn and Botman centre. John P
I'm not sure why we haven't used Trippier at left back at all in this run of games. Hall needs a break at some point and Thiaw or Murphy could cover right back

Yorkie
Owing to the miserable vibes around the place I'm expecting a narrow defeat. Too many games, too many injuries, too much fatigue. I think we might course-correct in the long run but it feels very difficult atm.
