Time difference living in the gulf as opposed to UK so late kick offs/cups/CL are border line impossible. Most matches I've actually stayed up to watch have been a bore, our team has looked toothless for the most part. Spending time with my daughter is far more rewarding than being so invested in a team that's simply stopped giving a shite.

Come on, man.

Again, we can agree to disagree by all means. I'm not seeing a team that's jumping through barriers to play for this manager. That derby performance is still fresh in my mind, it was absolutely gutless and sickening.

I honestly wouldn't be arsed if a lot of them were moved on bar Bruno/Miley/Tino/Hall.

I don't see why it's considered heresy to say this. Gordon looked half arsed yesterday before he went off, and the rest just looked confused. I think they all like the manager but just don't have the appetite to run relentlessly 3x a week.

I agree that the players seemed lost in terms of the system but I wouldn’t accuse them of not trying, even AG

Yeah well that's why I didn't use words like "not trying". I think if they are not 100% convinced in what they are trying to do, then that causes doubt and second guessing. I did think in the lead up to the first goal, Gordon just went through the motions of closing down, I noticed it right away.

  • Smashing into the VAR glass ceiling in the summer
  • a relentless media in which everything is overanalysed and sensationalised
  • a relentless media which is actively in service of a select few clubs
  • Relentless fixture pile up, a lot of which are shuffled to daft times for TV overlords
  • The shambles of VAR and the general standard of officiating
  • Inescapable social media stupidity bleeding into the real world
  • Fletch on commentary

Put all that together and I’m feeling pretty distant from it all tbh. It’s no wonder people turn to non-league

Do they? I personally don’t know a single person who’s given up Newcastle for non-league.

Of all the criticisms being aimed at Howe right now, I wouldn’t say a lack of effort from the players is one of them. They look fully committed and clearly behind him. For me, the bigger issues come down to style and team management — whether that’s in-game tactics, decision-making, or how he rotates and uses the squad.

I probably don't count here as I can't get to many games, but I've certainly started watching more non-league football. Started going to watch Brigg Town rather than staying in and watching us on tv.

A must win, not because of league implications but just to stop the rot, if we lose this it could turn very ugly very quickly given our run of fixtures. If we are going to be the club we all want us to be, dispatching teams like Brentford at home should be routine.

There is definitely some. However they’re simply replaced x10 by younger fans.

*speaking generally, rather than as match-going fans, for reasons that have been discussed at length.

I know one who claimed to have started watching his local team (North Shields) instead, which is fine, nothing wrong with it.

But I don't really want to read about it on a NUFC forum. Find one for your local team.

Yeah and no. I know a good few that still support Newcastle but stopped going during Ashley and started going to non league. Support Newcastle but can't stand The Premiership.

Weirdly during the end of the Ashley era I watched loads of PL and just avoided NUFC games.

Now I basically only watch NUFC games and really don't enjoy the overall PL product that much. Can bear the TV coverage with all Liverpool players, the pointless narratives, VAR, the long throws, the diving, etc etc.

I can really understand how people become the kind of fans that just go to the matches and don't really know anything about what's going on with the bigger picture.

I don't really see this as a must win game because I feel this season is going nowhere. The fixture list looks really tough coming up, I think we've blown it. Maybe we could still get 7th if we can work out a way to get the summer signings to click. Thiaw apart, none of them have really looked up to it so far.
