A great opportunity for the 'Howe Out' lads to come out from their shell.

Good! It's been a hot minute since I could!

I'm kidding. Love Eddie.

As improved as we have been the last few games I still think we look incredibly vulnerable defensively. It's been minimised by the fact we have looked good going forward and generally been the better team in all of the last 3.

However every time a team has attacked us, even spurs and Qarabag, we have looked like conceding and have.

So no doubts city will score goals. But I also love how fast and fluid we have been going forward so you know we can have a few chances but we need to take them this time, unlike the cup games.

Trppier is an obvious weakness in the defence and has been targeted by opponents over the last few weeks. Miley can't return soon enough.

As for the keeper situation, we just need to ride it out until the summer.

Eddie loved to go man-to-man v the better sides, but City have murdered our press in recent encounters. Combine it with a trip to Baku still fresh in the legs and it feels like a block and counter us the way to go here.

Think we go pretty much the same as we were for Qarabag for this tbh. Maybe Murphy for Elanga.

For Qarabag think we will see starts for Joelinton, Botman, A Murphy, Wissa.

Wonder if Joelinton might get the nod for enforcer duties if fit.

Eddie had him on ice like Simon Phoenix just for this game.

He should tbh. If I was reading Howe right, it seems that Woltemade was actually playing in his role against Carrierbag, but he's no Joelinton.

Out of possession he took tge left side, in possession he was more of a 10.

Yeah that's how it looked, just Howe insisted he hadn't changed formation.

It’s basically a free hit, as long as we pick up no injuries and don’t get battered.

True, but I get really disappointed if we show up with another toothless performance at the Etihad. A loss is fine, but as always its the manner of the loss.

I think so much of this is down to Trippier. We just desperately need Tino or Miley back. Botman being fit so we can rotate the CBs would also be nice, but less of the glaring problem.

I don't think we are at free hit stage in the PL just yet. UCL might be out of reach, but UEFA Cup qualification is still there. Any sort of European participation is better than none, if only to keep ambitious players on board, and to give us the chance of another trophy.

If he doesn't get his hair exactly like Phoenix for this game I'm going to be disappointed now.

I think the free hit part is that we've never won there, they are in good form, we just played a couple days ago with a four hour time change, and they've been hanging out for the last fortnight only leaving their homes to host Fulham and Salford City.

Ok I see that. My idea of a free hit was more along the lines of being 2-0 down going into the second leg of the Carabao Cup at the Etihad. I think Howe still didn't see it that way.

I think there's only one game in his time here that Eddie didn't 100% try to win and that was the Liverpool league game before the cup final. Conceding games/cups is just not in his nature and I'm very happy to live with the consequences of that after living through Ashley / Pardew.

I think we have a big enough squad now to try to win most games tbf.
