I just replied my thoughts on what he said. Nothing to moan about. Also no interest to continue talking about it in detail!  I got the uncanny irony of it though.

Just a bit of banter about the fact it's been discussed to death.

We're not a team of just these sorts of signings though, we're mixing them into a team that already has established players for squad depth. Rather than relying on the likes of Murphy and Willock going forward.

Thus is not what the likes of Brighton do at all.

We used to be. I’m just hoping- with a new Sporting Director- there isn’t a massive overcorrection on the back of a difficult summer where an, ordinarily stellar, transfer policy didn’t exactly work as intended.

I'm in favour of cheaper and smarter singings of course, we've just always said that the south coast spreadsheet clubs have a league position ceiling that we have higher ambitions than.

So we either need some of these signings to really blow up or we need to also shop in a higher bracket at the same time.

Or (again) we need to be patient with our progress up the table.

It's going to be a mix of players across different brackets depending on whether they're looking for a first team player or squad player I imagine.

Not sure I understand. We used to be what?

I know we need to make this sort of signing, but it's the first big bit of proof that we're closer to the Brightons & Brentfords than the Cartel (yes, cartel, Froggy). Sad, man..

We should have been moving like this last season, would have saved us a lot of pain. Go into fights you can win instead of getting your arse kicked by the big boys and ending up with nothing.

My point is that’s what we used to do and, for the most part, it worked well. Hoping it continues and we don’t go off in a new solely Brightony direction from now on.

Ah, right. No chance we go full Brighton and the CEO is talking about the goals he does regardless of how soon they can get there.

It's more the squad depth that has been a mess, and where they need to find options for better value so that can be built up.

Yeah as Kaka says we already have ‘top’

players like Tonali, Bruno, Gordon (albeit now gone), Hall and Tino. So this window needs to be to add a GK, LW (to replace AG), CM and maybe a ST in a similar mold to them and then to sign your Brighton and Brentford style players to fill out the squad that may save you a fortune in the future to go again for the elite players.

Our blueprint should be somewhere in between Brighton and the sky 6.

That's us accepting we're in that 7-10th bracket. We overspent to try and buy the guaranteed numbers needed to stay in the Champions League.

It's not accepting 7-10th bracket, it's accepting the reality of the situation and making the best of it. We can offer a path to the first team for the best youngsters in the world that the cartel clubs can't. We buy them up and in the not too distant future we will have at least some of the best players on our books.

Kroupi and Rayan are prime examples. They've only been in the league for one season and they're already worth more than double what Bournemouth paid.

With a budget of 150 million, you could get 4 or 5 really good youngsters to mix into our team, and we'd be right back in the hunt for the top 4 or 5. We just need to get our scouting right, like a lot of people say. Let's just do what Chelsea and Liverpool do to us and gazump the Brightons and Bournemouths.

Goes to show how mental money in football is considering he was playing for "Ikon Allah" a year ago and is now being punted for 20M+ quid

Still - could be exciting and I hope there's an element of truth to it.
