Until you know what you are deciding between then how can you make a sensible long term decision?

And you keep forgetting they had a reset in March after the cup parade and Eales early departure so no longer pushing the no empty seat mantra will have thrown things up in the air that hadn’t even landed back then.

There is no decision to make. We have to move. Once you do that you can then figure out the specifics. I cannot fathom why we have not at least made the decision to move.

In 1997 we almost certainly had both the Castle Leazes plan and the expansion plan drawn up at the same time. The planning application for the expansion was submitted just one month after it was announced that the club were abandoning the Castle Leazes application, so must have been ready to go in the background. No reason why they wouldn't do that again, the costs of preparing both at the same time would be miniscule for our owners and compared to the costs of the developments themselves.

To me the extensive delays signal a desire to move pending the logistics and cost / revenue projections, plus wanting to message what could be an unpopular choice for some with more details.

I’d say it’s sitting firmly with PIF at the moment, the recommendations are there, the report done.

Its down to their intentions now, they’ve already brought us up from the Ashes (pun not intended)..

But is this still a strategic investment for them or do they want to leave a legacy marker.. which a state of the art new stadium certainly would be.

Before all that work I outlined in an earlier post, they simply just need to make a decision on it. If the freemen have indicated that the site they need will be made available (again, others on this board will have more info on that), then it’s simple a yes or no.

Would appear PIF need some convincing?

The club are playing this perfectly everything being put in place behind the scenes. The Combined Authority is now in place to fast track planning approval and all stakeholders now on board. The decision has been made, the meeting minutes are all about controlling the narrative and it’ll be the biggest development the North East has seen.

Where’s this from though?

Leazes of course. Deal with the complaints which will take a while but if you don't start now it will be 10 years before this thing is done

Are you a gypsy? The club don’t own the land [emoji38] They are also obligated to pay rent for the land the current ground is on which they also don’t own.

So we should unilaterally announce we’re moving to a location, presumably without the permission or consent of the authorities?

What happens if we’re not able to move to Leazes Park, or anywhere in the city for that matter? Should we still move if the only viable location is at the racecourse? Just because you want us to announce something?

My own theory is that they've been having unofficial discussions with the Freemen, the council, environmental agencies etc for at least a year in order to thrash out a future planning application in the future that should sail through once it's actually official. I have no evidence whatsoever to back this theory up, just a hunch :)

The Combined Authority has been in the press and the rest is from a good contact who I trust.

No decision is the public line but decision has been made and it’s a new stadium.

My daughter was a senior town planner at the North of Tyne combined authority, might have a talk to her although she no longer works there. There’ll be NDA’s all over the place more than likely.

Had a bit of a shite experience getting out of the ground yesterday night.

Wor lass and I have been going for years, but over recent years she has needed to use the lift, as she has a hidden disability and the stairs make it very difficult for her, especially with the crowds. She has an accessibility pass and a sunflower lanyard, never really had too much of an issue in the past, staff normally decent and helpful.

We get tickets through ballot (0/6 this season) or member sale, ended up in the Gallowgate which is preferred actually as more leg room than Leazes.

Anyway, after the match we waited for the lift for her in the Gallowgate, naturally it's very busy, it's the slowest lift in the world, and wheelchair users are using the lift as expected so may have to wait a while till there is space for us.

Some jobsworth was kicking off trying to force himself and someone else into the lift, had pushed/moved some poor fellas wheelchair, naturally he kicks off with him, and low and behold 5 mins of arguing entails, staff have to come and get involved. Guy didn't even apologise despite obviously being in the wrong, he was determined people in the lift could have moved to let them in, bearing in mind there are two people in wheelchairs in the lift with people assisting them, amongst other fans.

The irony is, in the time he spent arguing that he "hadn't touched his chair" the lift could have gone down and came back up. If you are said person reading this on here, just have some patience and don't touch people's wheelchairs please. We all are trying to get out the ground, and also understand not all disabilities are visible. The whole thing should have just been "I'm sorry" and move on.

Anyway after 3 or 4 lifts full go by, wor lass is finally able to squeeze into the lift, and manage to get a fella who waiting on 2 sticks in as well. I tell her I'll meet her down at the lift exit, as I don't need it at all, rather someone who does need it could get in, off she goes.

I turn round to go down the stairs and the staff tell me I can't go down either access, as the doors have now been locked and I have to take the lift...

Make it make sense? I am totally fine using the stairs, was only making sure wor lass is alright, and now I have to wait for the lift and more importantly and annoyingly, take up a space that someone who needs the lift could take.

The people waiting were kind enough to let me go first so I could get to her ASAP. If you are on here, thank you.

Just seems such a stupid idea to lock the doors when people are still leaving the ground.

Disability access in Newcastle in general is terrible - seems St James is no better.

I went to the Etihad yesterday for the England women's game.

There was hospitality EVERYWHERE! Just standing in the concourse you could see random hospitality bar/areas behind us that just fed into the same stand we were in.

Also biggest thing i noticed, the Internet access was amazing!

A young lad sitting next to me was obviously there against his will, and he literally watched the whole Man u game which kicked off at the same time, on his phone!!

I would ban Internet access and phone signal in the ground personally.

Apart from that can’t wait for new stadium.

I hear you, but also quite a novelty to be able to text other friends who were there, and arrange where and when to meet at half time!

I’d make everyone hand their phone in at the turnstile on the way in and then collect it on their way out.

Would also mean we could track and ban the “leave on 80 mins” lot.

Two birds fatally wounded with one stone.

What’s not to like.

No good can come from it.

Even if you can’t get a signal, you’ll still get fans recording and taking pictures.

If you have a signal you at least have the ability to check other scores outside of what the stadium will show you and at your own time. You also have the ability to coordinate plans with other mayday fan and be able to get in contact with from other if there is an emergency.
