GLENN Roeder is delighted to have Emre and Stephen Carr back in contention for the UEFA Cup clash with AS Alkmaar - and believes their wealth of international experience can only help his team's chances.

A calf injury has kept Turkish ace Emre out of action for the last eleven games, while Irish full-back Carr has managed only three games since mid-November as firstly a foot problem followed by a thigh injury have hampered his campaign.

Boss Roeder said: "I'm very pleased to have Emre and Stephen Carr back in the squad, but whether they start the game we'll have to wait and see.

"Emre is a big player. He's been at Galatasaray and Inter Milan, he's played in the Champions League and he's played a lot for Turkey too. That will count for a lot.

"Emre is much more relaxed. He is very happy within himself. Initially, it was big shock to the system, the accusations, but he is fine now.

"Over the past month, he has shown a lot of mental strength and toughness, which is what I would expect from someone who has come from Istanbul and played for Galatasaray, where you need to be mentally strong.

"He wants to play. He has been very frustrated with this calf injury he picked up. That has taken a lot longer to heal than we thought.

"But he has been back in full training with us for a week now and he is very fresh.

"You see all the quality Emre has in terms of technical ability, the ability when he has the ball at his feet, and his ability to see runners and find them with the perfect pass.

"And of course, he has got an explosive shot as well off his left foot. We are delighted to have him fit."

And speaking about Carr, the boss added: "It's the same with Stephen. He's played a lot of European football and a lot of games for his country.

"It's nice to start getting the senior players back. We're gradually chipping awayat the injury list that has blighted our season.

"We're getting down to having around six injured, whereas earlier in the season it was nine, ten, even eleven.

Its great news about Emre

Not so good about the other player though

I hope this troll never play for us again

Guest Saint Andy

Great to have Emre back!

How can ratty think Carr's better than Nobby for RB? Hope he doesn't make the mistake we can all see coming.

Roeder is probably enoguh of a fucking 'tard to play the little fatty, as well.

As for missing Emre? depends. If the Emre who plays football turns up, he'll be useful. If the Emre we've seen against big clubs (especially away) turns up, he might as well piss of early to his Klan meeting.

Overall, he's been a let down, and wouldn't be a miss, should he be found guilty of being racist scum.

Carr is a better defensive RB than Solano, and a better attacking RB than Taylor.

Having Carr at RB allows us the option of subbing Milner/Solano on the RW if we need to change things around.

Welcome back Stephen Carr.

thats only when Carr's having a great game.. and we're yet to see one this season

Nobby makes some mistakes, but i'd have him at RB  instead of Carr any day
