Just been told by a friend there is a hell of a party going down at Shearers house in Darras Hall at the moment for his 40th. He said he saw a very pissed Lee Clark outside and footballers cars everywhere. What i would give to be at that party.

why ?

Meet some heroes and have a drink with them. Would you not enjoy that?

they arent heroes and i'm not keen on drinking with random strangers. it's always puzzled me why folk are desperate to socialise with someone because they are famous.

Footballing heroes then.

just footballers.

Jesus christ madras.

"Here, wanna come meet Nelson Mandela?"

"Nar man, he's just an ex-prisoner like"

come on, mandelas a totally different thing to a footballer. its beyond me why anyone would want to start a conversation with a footballer without knowing them to start with, youn wouldnt do it with other walks of life, or are you one of the fools that stands there staring in the shops when they see someone vaguely famous ?

If it's something you are interested in I can't see why you wouldn't want to talk to them.

and yet we know to start they often know less than us (think merson, claridge, marsh etc) what people really want is to have some of the cache rub off on themselves, sadly.

Absolutely.  There are footballers I wouldn't bother talking to, but some I would.

Shearer would probably be in the "wouldn't bother" list fwiw.

Jimmy Bullard was knocking around with Anthony Hutton in town last night.

And Nobby Solano.

that would be nice for him, hutton is a wannabe beckham, we used to call him and his mate posh and becks even before he was on big brother.

Honestly even before his slight fame he would go into Consett staion club on a sunday afternoon wearing a cravat, very odd boy. He still gets in there now though.
