Mick
Bloke on TOTT reckons Enrique is in newcastle now He probably knows as much as we do, he's probably seen his on that Spanish clip and put 2 and 2 together and come up with that, we could all make that guess but it doesn't make it more credible. Mick
True but why would he leave the friendly early if he wasn't travelling? I didn't say he wasn't travelling, I just pointed out that the person who claimed he was here is just guessing, he's probably right though as everthing happening the way it has suggests that he has changed his original plans. ohmelads
The player left just minutes before the friendly against Zaragoza to go straight back to Vila-real. Llaneza, Villarreal's Chief Executive, speaking from the stadium told Spanish Radio after the friendly: "We have concluded a very important deal, as much in financial terms as in sporting terms." He said that the deal was completed "in very little time" and that the player has gone to England to undergo a medical. "It was a very good offer for him and for us". http://www.levante-emv.com/secciones/noticia.jsp?pRef=3614_4_327804__Castello-Jose-Enrique-Newcastle So I'd imagine the player is in the toon today as that link is from last night. All the media and the Canal 9 clip claim we've offered him a 6-year deal (dunno if that's been mentioned already). That site also describes José Enrique as "without doubt the best Villarreal player of last season". Considering they finished 5th in the league and he's only 21, you can see why the Villarreal fans are so upset
Dave
We must rate him by offering such a long deal.

Guest arkanoider
Here's the news report from the Canal9 site: http://www.canal9.es/video/informa.asp?id=04082007_vilareal.wmv Only helpful if you speak a word of course, which I don't. Ohmelads - little help? Well I'm going to try to translate all the information in that video: J. Enrique: "I was a shame... I was in the room and I felt like crying because it has been a great year for me. I think that this dressingroom (villarreal) was the best that I have been in until now and my manager (Pellegrini) counts on me. " Tv Presentator: "These have been the words from José Enrique who is going to Newcastle United. Sad and grateful with Villarreal people" Sports Tv Presentator: "Yes. José Enrique is a man with a good progression who has been targeted by big teams like Barcelona or Liverpool. Finally, Newcastle has signed the player. His transfer to Newcastle was confirmated only 30 minutes ago before the friendly match against Zaragoza. The young player left the hotel to sign a contrat with Newcastle for the next six years. There he will be around great players like Michael Owen or Alberto Luque." I have to say that this program (Canal 9 News) always open with a Valencia C.F information, but in this case they have opened with the José Enrique transfer and that shows that is a very important agreement. In the other hand, the local newspaper says that he will pass the medical next week.

Who is our first like? The point I was making is we need one. I'm not getting to excited about this lad, Spanish players do very badly with us. Luckily, today Shorey rejected a new deal, we are in talks with Baines and apparently there is interest in Dede.
