I’m happy for you to explain - and I’m sure they ‘love the sinner but not the sin’. I’ve absolutely no time though for others decided what people they’ve never met can or can’t do within the bounds of the law and which hurts absolutely no-one. ‘I don’t agree with gay marriage’ - fine; don’t do it then, and mind your own fucking business about what others do.

He has never ever said he hates them. You’re making assumptions. I know this from my upbringing and friends and family I have that are conservative Christians. I’m sure many of them don’t agree with gay marriage but I sincerely hope you don’t assume they all hate gay people. It doesn’t work like that and I can explain more if you’re prepared to understand their situation more.
  4. Promotion has always seemed likely for Burnley, I’d be surprised if it collapsed any deal
  5. I feel like if you’re the best penalty taker at a premier league club you should be able to confidently hit it where it’s virtually certainly beyond the keeper, without any trickery. Clearly naive!

I’m getting involved in this again because I had a conservative Christian upbringing (that I’ve rejected) so I’m in a good place to speak here. What did he say that counts as ‘outspoken homophobia’? I’m still not what this thing he said was, or why people need to think the worst of something because of some stupid writing on an armband. If you can’t tolerate those views then I should just remind you that I’m sure many of the Christian and Muslim footballers that have played for us likely think similar. @southernmag was spot on there btw - bit of perspective is key rather than chucking everyone under the ‘homophobic’ tag, which seems to range from people who believe in stoning people to death for being gay to people who write they love Jesus on their armbands.

  8. He did - mainly because he relied on accuracy with a reasonable amount of pace. Shearer - who had a pretty poor record in games when it mattered - was of the ‘put your laces through it’ school.
  9. Penalties are all about technique, and it isn’t necessary to put your laces through it. The stuttered run-up and the ‘Panenka’ rely on the other party making a mistake, rather than the technique of the taker; that’s their biggest failing. Neither are the result of good technique, but daft cunts will fawn over them when they come off as if it is the result of the quality of the player - they are the complete opposite.

It’s worth noting that Burnley signed his replacement in the summer, having expected him to leave then.

  12. Watching other clubs podcasts where we're featured is mad like. Basically they hype us more than we do.
  13. After hardly playing for two years he seems to be playing an important role in getting Leeds over the line to promotion.
  14. Impressive work by Sky - fannying about watching endless slo-mo replays and missing a goal at the other end
  15. Aye, definitely. It was more the "they have so many championship players" I was laughing at though
  16. There’s not loads I’d change about our squad, it’s become a unit again. GK to challenge Pope RCB to compete with Schär CM to replace Longstaff or Miley. CF to replace Wilson RW to compete with Murphy If Gordon leaves let Cordero be backup for Barnes.
  17. If Watson was that bad how did he last 90 mins, when they took off Zidane and Gazza.
  18. It'll take away some of the pain they felt after the cup win.
  19. Bournemouth did it with cooperative refereeing, i.e., someone willing to keep the cards in the pocket. If we'd had a stricter ref or a homer in that game and the cards had started coming out around 30' or so with the score still at 1-1, we'd have made more of a game of it. As it was, Tyler Adams etc. just kicked us off the park. Bournemouth lead the league in fouls committed, so our lads should have seen seen it coming. fwiw, we're third lowest in fouls conceded and third highest in fouls against this season. We're not a dark arts team any more. The most fouled team is Villa. We are definitely vulnerable to counters/fast breaks and losing the ball in midfield but Liverpool and Man City demonstrated that better than Fulham did.

Unless Pope is part of the deal? Appreciate Burnley have been playing out from the back a fair bit however maybe unlike Southampton/Martin they will adapt a more sensible approach.

Nick Pope - still our best keeper but.. Martin Dúbravka - he’ll leave despite contract. Odysseas Vlachodimos - will be sold. Mark Gillespie - backup to the backup. John Ruddy - basically a coach? Kieran Trippier - 1 more season! Sven Botman - best defender we have Fabian Schär - exceeding expectations always. Very important still. Dan Burn - see above. Jamaal Lascelles - time to move on. Emil Krafth - basically the only backup for Schär. Reliable. Needs to stay. Valentino Livramento - better at LB than Hall. Lewis Hall - talented and not the finished article yet. Matt Targett - time to move on. Alex Murphy - not seen enough to think he’s going to make it. Loan would do him good. Bruno Guimarães - lack of pace his only chink in the armour. Superstar and needs to stay. Joelinton - been brilliant of late. Has to stay. Sandro Tonali - Keep at all costs. Sean Longstaff - can be useful.. but if 1 had to go it would be him. Joe Willock - hopefully injury issues behind him but jury still out. Lewis Miley - he needs to play more. Loan? Anthony Gordon - anything around 80-100m would take. Harvey Barnes - better than Gordon. Jacob Murphy - Deserves his place on merit. The soul of the squad. Alexander Isak - keep at all costs. Callum Wilson - time to move on William Osula - lunatic. Potential. Keep. So basically the only ones that should even be considered to leave would be Dubs - new contract, small fee? 2m Odysseus - shady Saudi deal Lascelles - owes us nothing. Targett - 3-5m A. Murphy - loan Longstaff - sell for 15-20m Miley - don’t sell if Longstaff leaves. Loan be good. Gordon - sell reluctantly. He’d cost a bomb
