Whilst we cant rely on Murphy having another season like that I also don't think we can expect Eddie to drop Murphy as soon as we get a new player in that position. A young player with a very high ceiling who wont expect to start every game but already has the experience and ability to be able to play in the PL sounds pretty perfect to me, particularly if we are looking at Pedro too.

A fair amount will depend on bonuses. Salary will be 5m-7m - but CL, 20+ goals etc. might be worth £1-5m - who knows

I suspect our transfer strategy is broken due to the changes at boardroom level, and we may have lost the people that can force deals through. We’ll see though, I’d love to be wrong.

I’m 100% certain that he won’t want to leave this summer and that we won’t sell him. I’m pretty certain that he will leave next summer though. Because I don’t see us strengthening the squad enough this summer to be able to cope with both CL and everything domestically. I just don’t think we’ll get enough quality/numbers in this summer. I would say that we need at least 2 more or less guaranteed starters and then 3 players that are very talented that can start and be rotated with others as well as challenging for regular starts. Do that and yeah anything is possible. But I don’t see us getting 4-5 players in. Hope I’m wrong.

Everyone panicking just needs to chill - we’ll spend big and there is loads of time left! The budget for incomings will significantly change if a big gun goes so that might be a reason for the delay (if one has to go then hopefully Gordon rather than Isak)!
