They absolutely were not. They had a couple of big name stars at intervals, but always sold them. They were never one of the biggest clubs in the world, they weren’t even in the top 2 biggest clubs in France.

Those games after UCL are killers, bar Fulham at home. Need to address squad depth urgently or it’s just so many dropped points to teams we shouldn’t. Sunderland (A) Sunday Midday, after a hard slog away in UCL is giving me jitters already.

If anyone disputes a transfer fee for Joelinton, set up a projector at the hearing, show the entire Carabao Cup final and then show some "highlights" of Fabinho's last season at Liverpool. Joelinton's fair fee with be at least double what Fabinho went for.

Every club has that blueprint now that Chelsea have set out, i can only imagine that we're not going that route because of legal council we've had. OR.. the owners are dead set on turning us into a force gradually and tiny step by tiny step. We won't get that consistency until we start making the right appointments to support the manager.

Apart from two Champions League campaigns, one Carabo Cup and never being in a relegation battle for three years... What did that overspending ever get us!! I do get your point to a degree but history will show success over us having to sell Anderson etc -
Imagine when they have no points from the first 6.

If you’re wanting someone solid with the passing ability of Schar, with prem experience that isn’t a near 30 year old in Joachim Andersen, then Van Hencke is pretty much your only option tbh . I mentioned him a while back. Would be a good signing imo and doubt he goes for 60m too. No one’s paying that; he’s not high-profile enough to command that kind of fee with 2 years left. 45m and I reckon it gets done.

But literally everyone wearing or seeing it would (and does) know better
-
Aye, they’ve tried to keep the travelling in that period to a minimum, which is sensible. Hence us having Man Utd and Burnley.

Fixtures 25/26 - First: Aston Villa (A); Last: Fulham (A)

I've noticed that the Christmas holiday period ( 27 December and on 30 December), not one of the 7 London teams will be required to play a game outside of London. -
I don’t want him to go but it has a certain element of inevitability about it if he is keen and some like Diaz is moved on. It’s a sensible transfer for Liverpool to make. I do think we could re-invest the money pretty well however.
-
They'll have overachieved if they get 4 points from those.
-
I know Paully was half kidding, but they have left themselves open to the possibility of a midweek kick-off in the derby. First time since 1999 if that somehow comes off.

He's never going to perform as a £80m winger, or at least out perform that and there will always a little chipping away at his because of the fee. He will of course do well if he moves, he's a more than decent player, but I doubt he'll ever quite reach where he should for more than the odd spell. Our squad would be better served in selling one of Gordon or Barnes and bringing in a slightly different left wing profile and then do the same on the right so we have one more direct and one a little more considered as options - even if the individual players in Barnes and Gordon are better

PSG were already one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I don't think they had the opposition at home that the cartel put up in the EPL. Just got to look at the legal hoops Man City have been put through to fight against the PL cartel to see it is a different kettle of fish here. You are right, there are hacks around it, just not sure Newcastle are the club which can push their luck like Chelsea can.
-
We might not like it but clubs like Man U and Liverpool have more pull than us because they are considered one of the biggest clubs in the world. Doesn't help that they can offer double the wages we can to players on top of that.

Feel for poor Sandro, playing every game.
-
I'm already exhausted just looking at that

I saw Van Hecke play against Finland on the other night. He was slow, clumsy, got a yellow and got subbed at HT. Ok that was just one game, and he has had a good season, but don't think he is the the right profile. We need pace at the back.
-
I like Van Hecke. I think he has enough pace and more pace than what we currently have. He’s not catching a quick attacker like but it’s not the massive panic stations we can get when being run at.
