They just clutch at straws because Sunderland is inferior to varying degrees across various metrics. They didn't have a metro system until we extended it there. They have a shitter beer. They have a smaller stadium in a shitter location. Albeit they get more concerts there because of the low roof in the underpass of the Milburn and Leazes end. The term "Mackem" was even a derogatory joke about their accent that they've now made it their own versus Geordie which has some actual historical reference. Newcastle is a thriving city by comparison to Sunderland and a lot of them even come to Newcastle for nights out and/or shop either here or in the Metro Centre - where no doubt they claim isn't Newcastle but is Gateshead. They literally have car manufacturing which is better than Newcastle but by there own Mackematics that's Washington not Sunderland despite having a SR postcode. It's alreet - I'm not gonna go down that path - they can claim it and have it. The football clubs themselves aren't that far apart historically - probably one of the more closely measured metrics. Both clubs have had similar successes over history but even then who can recall their nights versus Barcelona, PSG or winning a European Cup in the Fairs Cup. Evennin this area we have won more. Their recent history of success is defined by them as the whole '6 in a row' despite not playing us for like 8 years in the league because of their own demise. Didn't they fail to beat us at home for like 20 years or some shit? Literally no one outside of the region will give a shit or know about that 6 in a row malarkey. Even the fewtureheads are shitter than Fender. Who else have they had? Brian Johnson was the lead singer for one of the most renowned Rock and Roll bands in the world. Above all else they obsess about us. We are their permanent measure of success and to be better than Newcastle is their only desire. Personally, I couldn't give a shit about them. I rarely see SMB on Newcastle flags and see FTM on virtually everything associated to Sunderland. "Happy fathers day, brother David FTM"
  3. Honestly hope that when we play these down there next season there's loads of Fender flags alongside NUFC ones in the away end. I was flabbergasted at how much his last concerts at SJP had them rattled but they've somehow managed to take all that fewm and multiply it by at least 1,000! Genuinely don't know how a lot of them will get through these next 2 nights. The last concerts he did here, and then their many flags they took to Wembley with images of his head being chopped etc off gave a good insight to their level of derangement over him, but even so their reaction to Thursday nights concert still caught me a bit by surprise. I reckon a good 90% of Fender stuff I'm seeing on X is posted by them rather than people who were there!

Latest ( they start one every few weeks ) Sam Fender thread now at 500 posts about how little he matters to them and how he has faded into obscurity due to his links with NUFC . And his music is shite and they have never listened to it. Mind, they start threads like " what's the point of ( insert random football club here)" threads every few weeks, no idea what that is about. Some of the threads, "Is Sunderland a city of the future" and " Reasons to be proud of Sunderland " are equally tragic. Latest about miserable parts of the UK, talk about lack of self awareness.

  6. Ever imagined what our kits would look like if we were still with Puma? Additionally, what Adidas could have given us.
  7. Geordification. Love it. Brb whilst I commit some Geordicide.

Yeah I’ve said it before that they kick off about people from North Shields being Newcastle fans, despite North Shields being a Newcastle suburb. They also at the same time expect everyone in Spennymoor to be Sunderland fans. They also kick off at anyone in Durham who isn’t a Sunderland fan. For the record ladies and gentlemen, Durham is further away down the A190 from Sunderland, than North Shields is from Newcastle via the A1058.
  10. Apparently the Premier League now do kit reveals for the referees FWIW it looks as cheap and tacky as Puma has done for a long time
  11. "Although he is from North Tyneside" Are they really sticking with the marrative that unless you were born and raised in Leazes Park or Chinatown, you have no right to claim Newcastle as your local team. Sam Fender is a gloryhunting 92er who should be promoting North Shields or Whitley Bay at his gigs and not the mags who are a massive 20 minutes on the Metro away! So let me see if I've got this correct: Newcastle fan from North Shields: Bad Sunderland fans from outside Sunderland city boundaires: Evidence of Sunlun's worldwide appeyel P.S. Sam Fender has done really well to have made it this far despite being boycotted by SGM

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

That's the only bit that matters.
  13. That's the key part. He wanted to move early so we don't miss opportunities but which opportunities have we missed? Cunha was never really an option and Mbeumo was going to be out of reach wage-wise whether we made our move on day one or not. Delap we clearly made a play for but he chose Chelsea. I can't think of anyone we've missed out on because we haven't acted quickly enough, which is what Eddie was worried about.
  14. Quansah from Liverpool would be a good signing if the price right 100% profit for Liverpool as well

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I know how amortisation works and if we have that money to spend you almost have to gamble just to not lose ground. Villa did just that and it very nearly paid off.
  16. Makem nonsense aside, up until 1993 Princess Mary’s (couple of hundred yards away from Exhibition Park) was the busiest maternity hospital in Tyneside with thousands of births per year (mothers mainly from Newcastle and Gateshead though further afield as well). If you’ve ever done the SJP rooftop tour, you can see the site of the hospital and the RVI, obviously, which took over maternity services. Both are within a mile of the ground. You can also see the QE in Gateshead about three miles away and probably other maternity hospitals. So there must be a fair percentage of the fanbase who were born within a mile, or sight, of the ground particularly pre 1993.

  18. I think they said on pod on the Tyne that while the anxiety of lack of transfers was understandable looking back at previous transfers they’ve usually been in the last week of June or first week of July. Agree with previous comments that there’ll probably be a lot of movement towards end of June with the accounts/PSR thing or whatever it is.

I don't think so. Smith had left Newcastle uni before joining and I've no idea of the backgrounds of other members. We'd maybe see Dire Straits (formed in Sarf Lahndan) as an East Midlands band had John Illesley wrote the lyrics ?

  21. There’s a couple of different questions here. I’ve seen him play games where you could argue a case for £80M and there’s something really impressive about him as a person too, but it’s like the price of anything. The seller has to want to sell and if they don’t you have to pay more to prise what you want away from them. So do we want to sell? “Levy and most Spurs fans would drive him up here themselves for a lot less than that”. . No. General feeling is that in a train wreck of a season and a squad in transition he’s probably the best player. He was certainly the best in the first half of the year, then both Maddison and Bergvall (and for a short while Spence) have taken centre stage. (By the final, of course, the three attacking CMs were injured). You don’t offer to drive your best player away unless somebody’s backing up several Brink’s-Mat trucks. He’s contracted until 2028. The one variable that’s a concern is the injury. It’s severe, he’s going to be out for months, and maybe he won’t be quite the same player. The flip side of that is that I hope he’s now got a coach who’s technically savvy but also is less likely to inflict as much physical stress on the players, both in games and in training. Yet the injury makes any transfer much less likely - unless we think he’s actually broken. In which case, yeah, maybe we do drive him up there for 55M. How much would you take for Callum Wilson?

I mean you have literally just mentioned 2 of them there. Ed Sheeran has sponsored Ipswich’s shirt at a time when they were struggling to attract a sponsor and bring in money. He’s even bought a minority stake in them, and is shown watching them on TV camera’s anytime they are on TV. In saying that, my old uni flatmate who’s from Norwich will tell you that before he became famous he would play gigs and Norwich Uni’s campus wearing a Norwich shirt. The Gallagher brothers are very intertwined with Man City, heck Noel has designed a shirt for them.
