  1. Past hour
  2. How good is he actually becoming though? It's not like he's scored loads of goals or got loads of assists for Forest has he? He seems pretty much the same player he was for us, good all action type of contributions but not quite there yet as an attacking force. Disclaimer: I don't take that much notice of other teams but if I'm wrong about this please feel free to correct.
  3. I try and stay out of this to be honest as people get so riled up about it. He looked promising under Rangnick, who was carrying on the counter-attacking style from Ole. There was a point where he was seen as valuable and was going to an important player in the future. The following season under Ten Hag though he was absolutely awful, like beyond bad. We knew he was going to be sold that summer, and when we were talking about realistic values, we thought he was worth about £5m. We were absolutely buzzing to get £15m for him. He has elite pace, and can be deadly on counter attacks, but he's really not great otherwise. You're not a counter-attacking side, so I can't believe the fees being quoted for him to be honest. Howe obviously sees his physical qualities and believes he can mould him into a great player, and who am I to argue with Eddie Howe? He always had a good attitude as well and works very hard which are rare qualities these days. Bottom line though is that you're one of the teams we'll be looking to compete with this year, and if your biggest signing is going to be Elanga then I wouldn't be very worried at all about you putting distance between us and I reckon we'll close the gap, as Cunha and Mbuemo are far better players IMO. We'd be quite happy for you to sign him for a fortune so we can get the money from the sell-on as well. I'm sure this will be quoted in 6 months when we're shit again and you're flying with Elanga sitting on 10 goals, but that's my genuine thoughts.
  4. We do seem to be running into this issue with players we are chasing. Burnley also have a sell on fee which is inflating the fee they are asking. I guess it just comes down to which player still ends up being better value. Even with the inflated fee Elanga might not cost any more than Semenyo.
  5. The sad thing is that PSR encourages us to sell players like Anderson. He would be useful player and perhaps would allow us to sell Joelinton to Saudi in a year or two. He might get England call up, but on the other hand he is 23 next November, so he should be pretty soon if he is a top player. With "decent prem level player" I mean players that are not good enough for a bigger role in top club, but could be valuable squad players. Bit like Curtis Jones, younger Callum Wilson, Tosin, Jacob Ramsay, Ross Barkley, Raul Jimenez.... I might not make any sense with my posts. But I'd like to have him in our squad in place of Willock.
  6. I always thought Elanga was underrated at Man U and looked very dangerous whenever he came on. Weirdly I’m not as excited now but I don’t really know why. Maybe I’m buying into this idea that he’s just a pace merchant but I don’t watch him in enough detail to know if it’s actually true.
  7. Read somewhere that it’s 50% on any profit made? Who knows. Doesn’t help either way if we want him for a “fair” ish price.
  8. Liverpool, Villa, Arsenal and Man Utd fans are the worst.
  9. He’s as good as Semenyo who’ll go for similar, if not more. Plus, don’t Man Utd have a 50% claim on any profit made on the deal? Would suggest that they’d need more to cover for that.
  10. No chance he gets in any top 6 starting 11 right now. He's a decent PL player, can't see any justification to suggest he's shown a higher level than that to date. The fact we where forced to sell him and so got a bad deal is annoying, but there's no reason to be wishing he'll comeback.
  11. Point being he made a profit despite all of the losses he ran up.
  12. I’d argue the 00s was a different era, but as we went into the mid 10s, he made sure Chelsea was not operating at those losses.
  13. Unless it’s a state that owns you, no one man can or wants to keep running big losses. It’s a huge gamble Villa are going down.
  14. Don't know which bores me more, Ronaldo or the very concept of the Saudi league... Mind you, if they offered me a contract I'd take it. I'm in the best form I've been in for over 50 years.
  15. 61m EUR/~£51m according to Bild today. I do wonder if we might be interested in him given he can play up front, as a number 10 and as a wide forward. That's possibly the same price we'll be trying to get Joao Pedro for though I suspect (not that I think Brighton will let us have him for less than £60m)
  16. I feel like the 'now playing for Nottingham Forest' bit should mean this thread just gradually slides off the front page.
  17. Makes me laugh that every journalist worth his salt is saying it ain’t a goer for a wide variety of reasons but they’ve worked themself into such a frenzy about it they are adamant they know better. Odd.
  18. He's too small and weak. Looks good for the U21s but I've been underwhelmed by him in the PL. Plus he would cost north of £40m
