My concern would be missing out on those top targets, which were always a long shot, then those good promising squad players who aren’t necessarily brought in to start have already been snapped up. Best guess would be, they want the new training ground to have a sponsor. If they do a year to year they will limit the value they can get for any new sponsor of the training ground. Silverstone said that they are waiting for the right deal at the right time, that these deals don’t fall from trees and that they would look to maximise the revenue of any deal. Any worthwhile money will come from a Saudi business, I imagine they are waiting to see what happens with city.

From what I can tell (because I'm bored) training ground sponsors aren't all that common in the Premier League. Currently only five teams have a sponsored training ground, with two of those being tie-ins to global partners (Brighton/Amex and City/Etihad). Only Arsenal (Sobha), Burnley (Barnfield) and Liverpool (AXA) appear to be unique sponsors. I quickly scanned mind so that could be bollocks but I can't see a training ground sponsor happening unless it's a global partnership (like City) or it's announced alongside plans for a new build. Anyway, Trafford announced when?
