Feel like we had bigger fires need putting out than signing someone to “give us more options.” I don’t like him, he is petulant and throws himself about, hopefully we go and do better elsewhere now before people do start shitting the bed

Elanga is 23 with bags of raw potential and all the attributes to be a perfect Howe player. I’d pay £60m in a heartbeat. -
He had a bat phone and he didn't think to pick it up last week?
-
We have cover for goal keeper, right winger and centre half currently. We don't have for striker apart from Osula. If Isak gets a long term injury then we are fucked. DCL being mentioned is a joke and if you think the other areas are more pressing concerns, then that is just wrong
-
Agree, but we have no cover for Isak. Its as important as anything else.

In a club and got with someone but if bouncers had done their job properly she wouldn't of had entry to the club. In the heat of the moment you aren't going to ask someone for their ID. I think there was enough mitigation and the sentence he got highlighted this tbh. -
Kompany's put on a bit of timber

Think Trafford is the one signing I see with a really high ceiling, think he could transform our play from the back and looks to have huge potential. I agree about Elanga very hard at the fee being quoted to think that it’s a good deal, he’s a speed merchant and one trick pony. -
The club needs to rethink the strategy, they’re obviously targeting premier league proven going by the reported targets such as Joao Pedro, Elanga, Mbeumo, Guehi. Offering 45m for Elanga when Forest value him at £60m plus and don’t need to sell to make it happen you have to overpay (I’m not saying he’s worth overpaying for but as an example). If we’re unwilling or unable to overpay then why are we wasting time? Appreciate with Joao Pedro the player wants Chelsea and us paying the fee Brighton want is irrelevant but the point stands in general. Need to take some risks in the European market as we’ve done in the past.

Nice one pif lads
-
Ermmm...about the Elanga part......
-
Was Pedro even going to play week in and week out ? Just can’t see without a change in formation where he would have played, 50 million for a back up striker would have been a luxury. Go get Trincao, or the lad from Monaco and fill a position we need on the right and give us some creativity in the final third.
-
Is the exact thing we are desperate to avoid. Imagine paying 30m for someone who turns out to be Lloyd Kelly. This place would be furious.
-
Yeah, that's a fair point.
-
Stop bumping this thread. It's making me nervous.
-
Quite sobering that this thread went from titled Newcastle closing in on Pedro to Chelsea sealing the deal in less than 24hrs. We might be slow movers but they certainly aren't.
-
That's what I thought but then they described it as a broken bone in his foot so probably a metatarsal
-
Haha its all so morally bankrupt.
-
We need a RW first and foremost. Offering Wilson contract makes it look like we are sharing the minutes Isak is not playing with Gordon, Osula, 3rd striker. We are not going to bring big money striker, and we haven't even been linked with one.
-
Not more than a CB or RW. At least we have one world class striker.
-
I remember the opposite he was always saying during the conferences that he was ok apart from the Liverpool away game (when he was deliberately not used). I certainly agree we need someone, but DCL is certainly not that player

Not sure I can get excited about Elanga and Trafford. Oh well -
Tough summer. Personally I hope it ends up forcing us into gambling on talents with higher ceilings that are more unknown rather than expensive known qualities. Mbuemo and Pedro in particular are highly unlikely to get any better than what they've shown the last couple of seasons. While good players that would absolutely strengthen us, I want more for less even if that means slower progress and the odd dud here and there Call it the FM-sickness if you will.
-
Striker is arguably now the most pressing position. We are hugely under resourced for a CL campaign but we could make do in every other area. We need a second striker desperately.
