I got this **Newcastle United Eye Ambitious Move for RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo as Howe Targets Creative Spark** *By Luke Edwards, Northern Football Correspondent* Newcastle United are plotting an audacious move for RB Leipzig’s attacking midfielder Dani Olmo as Eddie Howe looks to add flair and guile to his midfield in the January transfer window. The Magpies, backed by their Saudi-led ownership, are prepared to test Leipzig’s resolve with a bid in the region of £50m for the 27-year-old Spanish international, sources have told The Telegraph. Olmo, who has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga and caught the eye during Spain’s triumphant Euro 2024 campaign, is seen as the ideal candidate to unlock defences and elevate Newcastle’s attacking output. With the club sitting comfortably in the Premier League’s top half and pushing for European qualification, Howe is keen to bolster his squad with a player capable of providing the creative spark that has occasionally been lacking this season. The interest in Olmo comes as Newcastle continue to navigate the delicate balance of Financial Fair Play regulations while flexing their financial muscle. Sources close to the club indicate that the Public Investment Fund (PIF) is willing to sanction a significant outlay, provided the deal represents value and aligns with Howe’s vision of a dynamic, high-pressing side. Olmo, with his versatility to play as a No 10 or on either flank, fits the bill perfectly. However, Leipzig are notoriously tough negotiators and are under no pressure to sell, with Olmo’s contract running until 2027. The German club could demand a fee closer to £60m, especially given interest from other European heavyweights, including Barcelona and Manchester City. Newcastle’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Paul Mitchell, is said to be working tirelessly to structure a deal that could tempt Leipzig into cashing in. Howe, speaking ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Tottenham, remained tight-lipped but couldn’t resist a wry smile when asked about potential January signings. “We’re always looking at ways to improve the squad,” he said. “The market is tough, but we’re ambitious and want players who can take us to the next level.” Newcastle’s pursuit of Olmo is not without its challenges. The player’s wage demands and the lure of Champions League football elsewhere could complicate matters. Yet, the prospect of joining a project on the rise, coupled with the passionate support of the Toon Army, may sway Olmo to consider a move to St James’ Park. Fans will be cautiously optimistic, having seen high-profile targets slip through the net in previous windows. But with Mitchell’s expertise and Howe’s clear tactical blueprint, there’s a growing sense that Newcastle are ready to make a statement. Whether Olmo becomes the latest piece in their exciting jigsaw remains to be seen, but this is a transfer saga worth watching. *Luke Edwards is The Telegraph’s Northern Football Correspondent. Antonio 'Antoñito' Cordero - To Sign on 1st July from Malaga (Official)
Dan Gleebals replied to SUPERTOON's topic in Football
Do every club release an interview of an 18 year old signing frow a lower league, in another country, ask such shit questions in an interview, and the post it like its a major big deal. Would be happy for none of this, just let the lad settle in/go on loan and take the pressure off. Hardly like he is walking straight into the squad! -
I'm fairly certain Amanda and Al-Rumayyan have both stressed that to become number one won't happen overnight. They've also made it clear we'll play by the book and try to outsmart rather than outspend the opposition. We're three years in and have gone from being a perennial yoyo club threatening to go down again to qualifying for CL twice and winning our first domestic cup since most fans were born. How much better could we be doing?

I hate football
-
Even a 10 year ban ends his playing career.
-
Absolutely not, they've been fantastic for the club. However, nobody made our (and PIFs) Chairman go on camera and say he wants us to be "Number One". If that's the goal then great, go out there and prove it. Don't give 9-figure sums to some of the teams between us and #1. You can both be delighted and grateful for what they have done for the club and hope for more.
-
I'm pretty sure the prize money was published well before PIF became involved as a FIFA sponsor like. I'm not sure how this can be construed as bad news for us. If anything it means FIFA will have a financial dependency on our owners for the next decade and be naturally more inclined to act in their interest rather than against it.

I asked AI to write a Edwards transfer story Sources close to the situation suggest the Newcastle are closely monitoring a versatile international player, whose recent performances have caught the attention of several top European sides. While nothing is concrete at this stage, discussions are believed to be ongoing behind the scenes, with the player's entourage reportedly open to exploring new opportunities. Newcastle are said to be weighing up their options, and although no official approach has been made, whispers from those familiar with the matter indicate that a move could materialize if the right conditions are met.

It means our owners are spunking a billion on a joke tournament and pouring an additional £100m into the coffers of Man City and Chelsea - which in Chelsea’s case will help with their FFP woes

Wonderfully gifted player. Cherki is one of the best players in the world to watch
-
Absolutely, and I cannot stress this enough, fucking not.
-
21 in 34, just saying.
-
Trying to act like he knew all along what others knew, the fucking fraud.
-
Er, I wouldn’t. What Tonali did and Paqueta is accused of are not on the same planet as Greenwood’s actions. Ludicrous putting his name next to theirs.
-
Perfect for the right wingers and all (one?) incels.

Cherki is a cheatcode
