Whilst I don't like siding with the enemy, and I think it's great that Big Dan is having such a fantastic climax to his career, I didn't see him as team of the year material at all. There's a reason why centre back is one of our top priorities in the next transfer window. He lacks pace, he's cumbersome on the ball and although his height means he wins a lot of headers, he's not actually as good in the air as you might expect. Getting that bulky 6foot 6inch frame off the ground is not easy. Stick a 5foot 9inch South American midfielder in front of him and he'll clean up, of course. He does well because of his strength and his experience, but also because of Eddie's amazing way of organising our defending in general. The abiding wonder for me over the last 3 years has been how few goals we concede, despite the limitations of many individual players. As for Fernandes, he never even popped into my head as a candidate, which is unfair because he is a very good player. There's something annoying about both him and his club though.

Agreed but he’s not a work-rate player so he’ll always been a bit of an easy target when his quality isn’t there either. God even Laurent Robert got booed off and he was twice the winger Barnes is.
-
I can see Gordon scoring
-
Watched him long and hard a striker with little about him no trickery or guile and certainly not champions league quality. Also tries to cheat referees on a regular basis. He is basic and not what we need to compete with Barcelona or Inter
-
Oh dear they have moved the advertising boards 10 yards in to stop Coventry long throws...is that as sad a thing as you can conjure up you desperate t###s
-
Championship striker? You’ve not seen much of him then. Outrageous take. Not that I think he’s amazing but he’s clearly already a decent PL striker who is only going to get better. If he was ours he’d only be one injury away for starting for the 3rd placed team in the league for a start.

Having Isak fully fit and an upgrade on Murphy will solve that issue. We could also rotate Joelinton out for a playmaker if teams play the low block against us and we have struggled to break them down. Who that might be? Hopefully Paul Mitchell will find the right player.
-
I think Palmer is a fair shout - As poor as he's been of late he has still got 15 goals and 10 assists - that's more goal involvements than Mbeumo and Rodgers.
-
Please no attempt to sign Delap he is a championship striker with little skill or guile...let him go to Manure as he suits them. We need a clever striker who can change games...find him Mitchell bud...

Been way more confident about winning this since they've started dropping points every week. Hope Rice is out, that would be huge. If he is, I think we win. I'd rather not leave it to the last day. Feels like Everton @ home is always a shit one and it could easily end 0-0 like that Leicester one when we last qualified for UCL.
-
Agreed. I would like us to be able to hold onto the ball and control the ball better at times though.

It can be done. I'm planning to have a bash with some ropey DHGate shirts before committing to something more expensive/meaningful. There's a few vids like this. This is the product they use: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AlbaChem-Transfer-Vinyl-Letter-Remover/dp/B01N17AEHP/ref=asc_df_B01N17AEHP?mcid=7716b0a8b8ed370a85d313c205329549&hvocijid=2560146133952152153-B01N17AEHP-&hvexpln=74&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696285193871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2560146133952152153&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046293&hvtargid=pla-2281435177898&psc=1&gad_source=1

Defining their right by the fact 26000 attended tonight....I would say that has been about the 5under1and real attendance all season...most threads on their sad forum all season have been about bogus attendance figures misconstued by 10000 per game to big themselves up
-
Been saying this for a week, I'm more bothered about the season closer vs the scouse mackems than I am of this game, they're our kryptonite
-
speaking of which, is there a method for getting the noon patch off a shirt? Brought the away recently and the noon yellow ruins it for me so wondered if I could get it off somehow?
-
Still can't believe a player of his calibre plays for us ffs. 😂 Normally you see a player like Tonali and think he would improve our team no end. For the first time supporting Newcastle, I can honestly say I would take our midfield over any others in the league.

Rewatching the semi highlights again. Feel like I'd almost forgotten about it as so focused on the final, but they were both special games too, the second one of the best nights at SJP for me in a long time. Looking back knowing what it led to adds to the magnitude. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PmCxudhbPk&t=19s - Today

Was just thinking that if we win our next two and Liverpool lost their next two, we’d only finish 12 points off the title. Getting closer. -
It’s an aesthetic thing. He’s in that very rare company of players who are just beautiful to watch.

Going down to this. I've been to three away/neutral games this season, all London and we've won all three. (Tottenham, West Ham, cup final). Also I've been to the Emirates twice and we've not lost (1-1 2006/07, 0-0 2022/23). We're doing it. -
After being worn against Everton?
-
Dunno, those first games he played when he signed he was outstanding and in a much worse team than this one. It gets overlooked just how good he was and how immediately transformative it was for our defence.
-
Pretty much my thoughts on the matter. Hatem will always be my GOAT, but this lad isn’t far behind.
-
Def was poor but was disappointed by the fan reaction to him, not helpful at all.
