If DCL is the best option we can get then someone isn't doing their job
-
As long as we don't pick up any bad injuries and/or get thumped 4 or 5 nil then there shouldn't be any need to panic. Just wish we had a somewhat easier game to give us a better chance of finishing it before Everton. But that's how it's fallen and hopefully this team will see it through and get us over the line like they did in 22/23 and the in the cup final this year.
-
I think I’d pick Osula out of those 3, but it does highlight the issue of having the right level of backup. I guess if we can give Osula enough minutes in the cups or wide positions then it’s OK. Not sure I would pick DCL like, but I don’t know what the options out there are.
-
Nice to have a target man upfront to launch it to when we’re under the cosh late in games too.
-
Not in the same league as Cole or Ferdinand for us in my opinion, probably on a par with Ba.
-
Excellent. Let’s just win then and it’s sorted. having said that, they’re playing Man Utd.
-
No, but Forest wouldn't be able to catch us and we'd be 3 points ahead of Villa with 1 game to play with a goal difference they realistically can't over turn.
-
We wouldn’t to be honest. It would be same deal, and he’d be moving to Real Madrid still. Just we’d have some profit to show for it, but back to square one on the board. Probably why we didn’t make a move as we want the CB and majority of first team signings here for a few seasons at minimum.
-
If we win tomorrow is it confirmed?
-
Wish we’d been all in for him last summer (as per our rumoured interest) rather than fannying around haggling with Parish for the vastly overpriced Guehy. We’d have one CD position sorted for the next decade an a half for a pittance if we had.
-
I’m not massively sold on DCL, however I’d rather be bringing him off the bench or starting in cup games over this seasons Wilson and Osula. We aren’t signing a top class striker to sit on the bench, DCL may be the best option for us.
-
Would take DCL if we signed Mbeumo as well.
-
He was a superb centre forward. Ridiculously underrated by the footballing punditry
-
I know he took pens but Wilson managing to score basically 1 in 2 for that awful Bruce side is an absolute footballing miracle. Clapped out as he looks now, he carried that team on his back.
-
He was superb when he was fit - I'd honestly rank him behind Shearer and Isak, but pretty much no-one else - including Cole, Ferdinand, Ba, etc. Absolutely lethal and a great all-round CF - but injuries hampered him - tbf, if they hadn't, Wilson plays for a better club than Ashley's NUFC. I wish him all the best when he goes, and he'll always have my appreciation and respect - but I can't pretend it means anything when a player leaves if that is what is best for the club. Players usually become stalwarts only if they've been good enough - we owe them nowt, they owe us nowt.
-
Going to be an absolute meltdown in here when they lose tomorrow, followed by a massive reversal when they beat Everton and finish 4th.
-
We can still finish 7th, so hoping for man city win just so we are definitely at least in Europa next season
-
Totally agree about Wilson being one of the best I’ve seen.
-
Wilson is one of the best no.9s I've seen in B&W before the injuries kicked in fully ... but I'm sorry, I also can't pretend I give a shite. I have no real emotional attachment to players - at least no more than any other humans - I don't know them personally. I hope they're happy etc like I would anyone else - but they're perfect strangers to me. The shirt and the club is what counts, not the bloke temporarily wearing it - the Tommy Dockerty line about strips on a washing line applies to most football fans I reckon. I've little sentiment for players being sold or leaving the club in any real sense - that's what football is. The club is what counts.

Should Palace win today and Forest win their last 2 games to finish ahead of Chelsea, and all other results go as expected would that leave Chelsea reliant on winning the Conference League just to get into the Europa? Trying to find an argument for rooting for Palace today, would make it a more interesting final plus fuck City. Bad enough to have to spend yesterday evening shouting for their neighbours.

He’ll be a smart signing I think but basically, if Howe wants him, that’ll do for me.
-
Until his current injury he’d barely missed a match for two seasons. Isak missed significantly more matches in that period, but no-one wants to label him a ‘crock’. I agree his goalscoring record has been poor in recent seasons (although who he’s been playing for hasn’t helped…) but he wouldn’t be getting brought in to get us 15-20 a season. He’d be someone capable of scoring, but more importantly (IMO), someone that can give us a different focal point to Isak, should we be chasing, or give us an ‘out’ to get up the pitch, should we be protecting. Anyway, all moot unless he actually signs…
