We can't sign a load of top players in one summer though. We are gonna need a stop gap here and there. Centre back is definitely one position we do need a bit of experience.

I didnt see the game. Where did he play? Left or right? He's far more effective when played on the right. Massively so. We started with Milner and Young playing off Nugent. Milner was on the right, Young on the left.

Ashley Young is one of the most promising players out of our U21's. Didn't have a very good game yesterday though.

He's at a good age though. If he has another season like he had last season, then he will have proven he is over his injury's. Lost about a yard of pace like, luckily he can still read the game so well. You reckon? I wouldn't say so from what i've seen of him over the past year. Still looks quick on his feet to me. As you said though he's got the brain. Even when he's 34 (if he's over all of his injury problems obviously) and slow he will still be an excellent defender because of how well he can read the game

I don't think Shearer has a very big role at all anymore though. I remember either Roeder or Shepherd saying last summer that when they go to sign a new player they will just chuck Shearer in the room with them and if he can't convince them to sign for Newcastle then nobody can. Allardyce doesn't need anyone to speak for him when it comes to big players though. Obviously Solano would be useful because he would convince unknown players from Peru and tell the club about promising players.

If he signs for the smoggies then that is surely a sign that nobody wants him. Boro haven't got much to offer a player really. Half empty stadium, crap team. I can see them being in a relegation battle next season if they don't strengthen their team massively. Southgate was saying only a few weeks back they desperately need Viduka to sign a new contract because they are gonna need to use a lot of their budget to replace him. They might say Tuncay is his replacement if they get him, but as everyone knows it is a big risk going into a season relying on a player to score goals who has never played in the Premiership. A lot hinges on Woodgate staying for for them next season.

Well anyway i agree we could do with Nobby's help with players from Peru in the future. He's one of the few current toon players i would definitely trust when it comes to spotting a good player. He's got a real football brain.

I don't think we need to anyway, i think he would be the first person to encourage a player to come to Newcastle if we were after one from Peru.
