There was no need for a number of police around the town yesterday. You couldn't fuckin move without seeing someone in yellow coat. When we got off the train they basically forced us up to this leisure centre with a massive tent thingy on the side. It was awful so we went into town where there was a good atmosphere and not a hint of trouble. Fuck knows what the police were expecting. No need for the numbers yesterday. I was on that train back too. A bit packed and seemed to go on for ever. It was like a tour of the Super League or something.

I wouldn't look at it as needing someone to replace Bassong. I think our defenders and strikers were easily good enough for midtable in the Prem when you look around other squads. The problem was our truely awful midfield which offered no creativity to supply the strikers, and no cover for the defence. Because of this the attack was toothless and the defence was put under too much pressure. Add into that poor managers, the farce behind the scenes, and a lack in confidence and we were going nowhere. For the Prem, at the moment though, only our defence is good enough, but even that lacks any depth. Major work is needed elsewhere if we go up, plus a few back ups at the back.

Well done the lads with the Cockney rapist banner, I'd imagine this is a direct result of it. Bollocks, 2 banners were shown in the LC before KO and weren't took. You'd think if they were enforcing a rule based on something which happened in the LC that they'd, I dunno, be inforcing it there? Perhaps it's only once the match has started? It would be great to see an out and out goalscorer here. If we had one, like a Beckford or a Fryatt, I would prefer to see Ranger up front with him rather than Carroll or Shola. Ranger works harder and will only get better. The other two are pretty limited in my opinion. If we go up though, none of the strikers we have have anything like enough quality to help keep us up.

I would still like us to have a go. The games are played on a weekend anyway so arent like the League Cup where they can just tire players before league games. If I was a player I would be wanting the opportunity to test myself and an FA Cup run can boost moral. Of course the league is always more important, but thats the same every season whether you're challenging for Europe, promotion, or battling relegation.

Another game we win because we have so much more quality than the opposition. Would have been far more had we had a proper striker alongside Carroll or Ranger, and someone down one of the wings who can get a good delivery in. Jonas scares defenders and is an asset, but if we had someone down the other flank who could consistantly deliver a good ball we would be laughing our way to the title.

I know it's not necessarily what he's saying, but I'd rather that than not get promoted this year. So would I, but we should be looking at going back up and staying up.

I agree with that Bird article. If we go up and fail to invest in the summer we will rocket back down again next season.
