I don't think it has anything to do with the players, the manager had a shocker. All of you, please go back to page one of this thread and look at the line up, nobody expected that line up and tbh it is very negative. It reminded me of Pardew (baulk!). Rafa made a huge mistake as far as I am concerned, we had various players on the pitch that had no reson to be there. Any other manager apart from Rafa and they would have got slated... He fu~~~'## up, that simple! Next match let's start with the players who looked decent in pre-season and get some more attacking fret (baulk) such as aarons on the pitch from the start. We got beaten through a set piece, which can be looked at either positively or negatively depending on which way the wind is blowing. I hope Rafa mixes the match selection up next week, I want to see aarons/mbemba and don't want to see anita/colback/dummet...

Could even shift Mbembea to left back and shove Hanley into centre with Lascelles???

I don't think his ball control is that bad, you have to take in to account that he is normally running full tilt when he receives the ball, which makes it ten times harder to control precisely. The main problem with him is that he is utter crap and dissapears in games for long periods and only has a good game where he is influential in a ration of about one in four...

I am enjoying Rafa put his stamp on NUFC and the fact that he is getting his signings wrapped up early, also liking the fact that my interest levels are at there highest for a couple of years now... but one thing that is worrying me is the distinct lack of goals we have up front. I wonder whether Gayle, Mitro and Ayoze have enough goals in them to get us into a dominating position. I like them all but not one seems to be a twenty goal striker, which is what I think is needed to guarantee our promotion. Would also like a striker to cement their position and stay there for our return to the prem. Your thoughts...

Typical Newcastle result and Sunderland fight for their lives and get a good win against Chelsea. We are down, no two ways about it. Only thing that would cushion this is if Rafa stayed...

yOU COULD TURN THAT INTO A 433 EASILY ASWELL...

In a relegation scrap the defense needs to be the first priority, then when that's right we can start to think about nicking a goal: I would go for quick counter attacking formation with a "solid" (all we've got) rearguard: -----------------------Blobby-------------------------- Janmaat------Fistpump-------Lascelles------Mbemba ----------------------Tiote (Saivet)-------------------- Sissoko--------Jonjo---------DeJong-------Townsend ----------------------Doumbia m'lord----------------

Is he alive/training/dropped or what?

Just had a look at Sun/Pal/Nor reamining fixtures and it looks like we will need at least ten points to be safe. We need wins against Norwich, swansea and Palace and to scrape something from another of our fixtures. Not looking very likely as I just can't see the goals coming unless Doumbia turns out to be the loan of the season!

When I saw the line up yesterday before the game I knew we would be knackered for pace. Pedro, Willian and Hazard with costa buzzing... recipe for disaster. Colo was abysmal, taylor always in two minds whether to cover coloccini or pick up his own runner, made the wrong decision every time. Put a youngster in at left back, albeit the only one who could perhaps compete in the speed stakes (wrong!), and you get comeuppance.
-
Aarons was a mistake, he was well off the pace. He did a couple of things down the wing but Defensively he was wandering what to do and where to position himslef. Why he didn't just keep the 4231 and shuffle the back four, god knows...
-
yep. he's walking and very half hearted today...

This is the typical game where we will be left devastated by NUFC again. We win a couple of games and start playing with effort and chances, then along comes another one of those "winnables" and we are left on the floor like a rookie boxer taking a left cross and going down...oh well! Then again, we might just put five past them if Mitro finds his shooting boots
-
Shelvey would hold and "spray", whilst janmaat overlapped. thes rest would just go dam horseshi# crazy all out attack !!!
-
If we went 433 or 442 we could deffo fit berahino into the side. We could do with some raw pace and skill up front to offset Mitro's obvious qualities and defects... I would rather the 433 version as someone previously stated, all out Keeganesque attack.... Yipppee ----------------------------Elliot-------------------------- Janmaat----Mbemba--------Colo----------Dummet (jack) ------Sissoko---------Shelvey----------Perez-------- ----Berahino------------Mitro-------Wijnaldum-----

Do we know anything about his injury? Are we stuck with Colback at left back?
-
Colo had his best performance this saturday past, and a couple of better ones before that. But if you look at his half season he has been crap more times than good, the season before was a farce, so all in all I would still like to see a good centre back bought this window (behind a striker)...
-
He was too much of a passenger in earlier games, suppose it could be adjustment to pace of the games here. He is much more active now and doesn't have so many of those dissapering acts, he seems to be involved a lot more both defensively and obviously offensively. I think Ayoze is doing well out on the wing, he covers a hell of a lot of ground but seems to fade badly in second half (nearly always...)
-
The goals dry up and they need a Plan B, aahh ah hahahaha! Deja Vu!
-
Here's one to think about; Emile heskey was a very well respected forward who didn't score that many goals (by memory, wiki will probably leave me open to attack) but he contributed a lot to team's play. Would be nice for Mitro to get a goal or two in the coming games to get his confidence up, he just isn't making the right decisions shot wise and is fluffing a few of them... Come on son!
-
Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Shelvey, Colo, Janmaat were all 9 out of 10s today. The balance with somebody with a bit of forward passing and vision made an unreal difference. Getting worried about mitro's misses, he made some shocking air shots today. if we could get remy on loan i would be well chuffed
-
I have been suitably impressed by Rob in the last three or four weeks. Liking him a lot at moment. Only downfall is that he doesn't like to play it out so much and prefers the long boot upfield. Could mix it up a bit?

Lte's get a third and then get saivet on to conserve the lead...
