  1. I don't buy into this whole "If he wants to leave, let him go" mentality at all. By that logic, Man U would have sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid a couple of years back. Would have been a suave move, eh? I'm not saying he's as good as Ronaldo or even close, before half of you break your keyboards replying to me btw.
  2. What sort of person would make such foolish, risque generalisations...
  3. Not England, obviously, but mine was the Ireland vs Romania penalty shootout from Italia 90' I was only 6 at the time, but I remember watching it with a big group of neighbours and everyone mad into it, was amazing when David O'Leary (of all people) slotted home the winning penalty and the entire place went wild. Everyone out on the street afterwards for hours, kicking a football around until it was dark. Magic, one of my earliest prominent meories, of any kind. Beating the Italians at USA 94 was pretty cool as well.
  4. Pretty fair synopsis IMO. Who voted "I was happy, now I wonder" based on the last few weeks then? I would suggest a long, well thought out word with yourself if that's how you voted tbh.
  5. What a game that was, pure 100% commitment from both teams the whole way through and fabulous, open football to boot. Spurs were the better team and deserved to win to be quite honest, don't like them but anyone who thinks that team isn't very close to being Top 4 material is deluding themselves. Dawson was immense for 94 minutes tbh, giving him an OG would be extremely harsh. I've got 5 quid that says they won't show Rooney's dive on MOTD. Absolutely as bad and premeditated a dive as I've ever seen, Dawson pulls out and Rooney throws himself on the ground with Dawson not within a yard of him. Didn't stop the little scumbag mouthing off to the ref about it though. On that note, thought Clattenburg had a tremendous game. Could easily have gotten out of control and had 2 or 3 red cards, despite not being a dirt game, with a lesser ref in charge. Managed to keep it under control somehow, fair play to him.
  6. Fuckin hell, don't know how some of you lot have the heart to do this time and time again.
  7. fookin hell leave it till the last minute and its too late then more than likely loose him in the summer well done mort . sorry getting angry now s*** timing I totally agree willow, why couldnt we have struck up a deal last week or earlier for this player, same with Giles Barnes, and Alvaro, what is an extra couple of million to a billionaire? fair enough he might have put £250m into the debts and the club but if he wants success he must know that we need players I'm inclined to doubt that he became a billionaire by throwing the odd million here and there at random things that he may not have needed. TBH I reckon if we actually wanted this lad and have made a botch of it in the way it would seem we have then I'm not overly impressed with Mort and Co. either. I just really can't stand the "Ah sure we're loaded, may as well throw it around for the laugh" attitude that some people seem to be adopting. what like buying a football club for £250m? if the management team wanted the lad then they should've been backed and we should've paid more, the price was lower than most would've expected anyway. if we're being stingy over one or two million here and there, to the extent that we'll go a whole window buying no-one and missing out on 3 or 4 targets, then it suggests reports of us having a big fund stashed away are as mythical as el dorado. Quite obviously the same thing, yeah.

  9. Shak

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Agree for the most part, but really he's not a winger at all. He has no defensive responsibilities at all, he along with Rooney and Tevez basically form a front 3. Great move by Fergie to let him off whatever small leash he may have been on when he started out at Man U. He's just too good to waste in any defensive capacity.
  10. I can see what Keegan means with his Shola-Adebayor comparison, even if Adebayor is more talented. Shola has never learned to play to his strengths at all. You can see that managers have told him to be more physical but this just results in him giving away free-kicks all game long as he has no idea how to be more physical without breaking the rules of the game. He's a player who desperately needed a top class coach to teach him how to best utilise the talents he has got, as he clearly has no idea himself. That's Wenger's greatest ability for me, seems to be able to teach players how to be the most effective they can be. Had Ameobi aged 18 fallen under Wenger's tutelage, I believe he'd be a pretty good Premiership striker. Not top class, but not the wreck he sadly has become at NUFC.
  11. When you've got fuk all its worth taking a reasonable risk on someone, Barnes, Arshivan is a reasonable risk imo. Most of those duds have come as very good palyers who've done well in the league and look how that turned out. As Baggio said, if we think we can get better players in the summer it just doesn't make sense to buy players as stop gaps, especially if they're costing millions. Ashley may be willing to spend money, but the more of his money that KK wastes then the less of it he'll see in future I would imagine. He's a businessman at the end of the day, can't see him taking kindly to Keegan saying "I know we've spent 6m on a winger 6 months ago, but I reckon this other guy is even better so we don't need him anymore." Entirely likely that this January's budget is tied in with the summer budget also, so if Keegan can't get the players he really wants for the long-term now then why reduce his spending power for the summer?
  12. How has it been half arsed? We have signed NOBODY!! If we can't sign the players we want we should be signing other players, just for the sheer sake of it. We clearly have the money, may as well just spend it for the laugh if nothing else.
  13. Is it cynical to suggest that part of the reason the proposal was rejected is precisely this. Chance to paint your biggest rivals in a bad light. I'm sure they know full well that the minutes silence won't be observed by some City fans, so why actually try and go through with it?
  14. Take a fucking hike you prick. Again, any reasonable person can see what I meant and never meant anything derogatory by it. Again, sorry if I've offended anyone as it genuinely was never my intention.
  15. No, I said that it's been pretty much shown that they haven't been as succesful in specialised positions in sport that are more cerebral than others, which nobody has offered anything in response to other than "Ooh, you're such a big racist". I'm not saying i disagree, infact - i really don't have an opinion on such matters, but i don't understand why you're so surprised, Shak. Your post was always going to ignite an argument. What was the point man? You're right like. Just a bit annoyed that people are taking it so badly and I'm such a big racist scum all of a sudden when I didn't mean anything bad by it, just stating something which I saw to be pretty obvious.

  17. Black people are simply better athletes than white people. Faster, more agile and generally just more explosive on the whole. No real point deluding ourselves and trying to be PC about it, it's a stonewall fact. Conversely, white folks are, by and large, better equiped at the cerebral side of sports (i.e reading what is going on around them and making decisions) You need only look at american football to see this. In the positions where speed and athleticism are crucial, like running-back, reciever or cornerback, you will do well to find a white person in the entire league. You get some wide-recievers, admittedly, but most of these are "slot recievers" who generally are expected to work the middle of the field and spot open space in zone coverages (which further illustrates my point) rather than be big playmakers. On the other hand pretty much all the elite QB's, for my money the most mentally challenging position is sport, are white guys. There are exceptions to the rule of course, but this is the way it generally goes. What utter bollocks. Well, you've certainly disproven the arguement there. What argument? Do you really consider your sort of infantile reasoning an argument? It's racism dressed up in a spurious series of statements designed never to be able to be gainsaid and therefore not (in your world) disproven; any contrary statements serve only to confirm you in your prejudices. Your racist patter has no intellectual credibility whatsoever. Whatever. If acknowledging very obvious differences between people of different races makes me a racist then I guess I'm a racist. Good guess. Strange, I'd always assumed there was some element of discrimination involved. You generally attribute qualities' or lack of them' to people on the basis of their race (black people run faster, whites are more cerebral). This is racism. As I said, there are exceptions. But yes. Generally, in sports, this is the case. Are you telling me its just a big coincidence that the 10 greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time are white, while the 10 greatest running backs are all black? Again, apologies if you're offended, but I really don't see the point in blindly pretending that there aren't differences between different races of people that make some of them more suitable for certain things than others.
  18. Yeah, lots of sprinting involved in weightlifting alright.

  23. Who said anything about IQ's? If I've offended anyone with my comments I do apologise, as much as I believe them to be pretty accurate. I would back Shak up. I always thought the Amercian Football comparison was a good example. Cheers. I really don't see what's racist about acknowledging the obvious differences between different races of people, whatever makes some of you feel high and mighty though. JOKE. Not you mate
