It's not that they cant afford to replace them, but they have managed to get a situation where 3 of their top players might leave on a free at the same time and non of the replacements will come cheaply. They've already spent a decent wedge on Marmalade as well

Thats the other thing with Liverpool.. Salah, Trent, Van Dijk all potentially leaving on a free. They'll need to spend some wedge to replace them (even if not directly but in the squad), so £150m on one player is unlikely

It’s not just the £150m, you’ve got £20-£30m signing on fee/agents and then £300k a week if he goes for that amount. nobody is spending that this summer, probably even next.
