  1. Didn't he play DM against Sporting? Well I say play.....
  2. Been saying at work recently that if we are going to chase 4th place, we first need to win 8 out of 11 games and will be chasing spurs not arsenal.
  3. 2 small points, firstly we've just about broke even regardless of the AC 35m, and secondly sports direct are one of the more successful brands out there at the moment. Plenty of companies would happily be associated with them. They've gone ott with the advertising in the ground, but signs can come down as easily as they go up.
  4. I dunno, but he must have mis pronounced that word 200 times today. Someone should really have a word like
  5. Pissed off. Thought I needed 2 front tyres, sitting in kwik fit now getting all 4 changed. Anyway, looking forward to the game, stomach churning was yesterday now its the anticipation you get at the peak of a roller coaster
  6. Fulham first half formation, replace Guthrie and the strikers with Tiote, Ba, Cisse Sorted
  7. Or we could have gone 4-3-3 with Ben Arfa roaming as a sapre man
  8. Gone from Brilliant to Good, and he's just scraping a good. Since the Chelsea game we've been very eratic, a couple of great performances, a couple of games with decent spells and a number of games where we've been complete dross. The league is very poor this season and we've got a great chance to make Europe (probably need the cup winners to finish top 5 mind), however I'm torn as to whether I would rather see Europe next season or use the rest of the season to try something new and give it a good run of games to bed in - heck even try something radical like seeing how Tav plays at right back or if a full back pairing of Ferguson and Santon will work. How about givign Kadar a run in the Premier League - may save a few quid on a squad CB in the summer or allow us to move Williamson on. And that's before considering building a formation to play to the best of BA, Cisse, Cabaye and Ben Arfa - you know, maybe a 4-3-3 or something unheard of like that.
  9. Lad I work with played with Willo as a teenager in Torquay. Reckons he was a very limited player back then, nobody can believe he made it past league 1 level, never mind be a Premier League player. He also said that as a teenager he was the quickest player in the league!
  10. Sounds to me as if the 90 mins can be shown but anything before or after would be covered by Sky's copyright/IP.
  11. Thinking a Tiote - Raylor defensive midfield shield with Cabaye ahead of them. Ben Arfa, Cisse, Ba as an attacking trio
  12. Try running it without customers, employees, paying taxes etc etc. The only difference to most businesses (but not all) is the emotional attachment
  13. The black and white stripes weren't replaced, the blue star was positioned on a black stripe in the centre of the shirt, below the unbro and club badge. As for the Gallowgate, did we have season tickets before it was rebuilt? Also, the Gallowgate was replaced, St James' hasn't been so it's not the same. How much of the current St James Park is original? Taking the logic that the Gallowgate has been replace, then surely the current stadium has been in place since around 1999/2000 in its total form?
  14. His actions will have caused more debt than his loans will have saved the club, not that his interest free loans justify the name change. Doesn't change the fact that he is still entitled to charge interest on any loan he puts into the club. How much interest do you think we're saving by not owing Barclays or whoever £100m? I don't agree with changing the name of St James, it seems a pretty pointless thing to do if nothing else and I'm sure there are other ways of making money from the club. However, I do see where it might make sense in a devilish business mind.
  15. Its only stupid financially if you can't manage the PR, otherwise the potential benefits are huge - 100% profit on something? Yes please from a business perspective. That's presuming, of course, that somebody actually pays the club some money. Or someone takes some 'free' advertising for a linked brand rather than charge money on loans given to the club. Money in is the smae as money not going out
  16. Its only stupid financially if you can't manage the PR, otherwise the potential benefits are huge - 100% profit on something? Yes please from a business perspective. Maybe he can follow it up by asking if anyone would like to buy advertising space on the side of a bulldozer which is demolishing an orphanage, as long as he gets the PR right. You got me there, I can see how the 2 things are the same

  18. He's not fat. He's just big boned?
  19. TNS have been professional since 1990. RBS has a history of going under & selling its name, its why its still around. Also the breakaway group who didn't want to support it have a stadium sponsor like us. Not Called Total Network Solutions any more either iirc.
  20. Robbie Savage has bought some land to build a hotel and restaurant next to my house. Might get some player/ex=player spotting action once its built
  21. Depends, If you want to know how much money you have to spend then yes, but if you want to see how the club funds itself then no. You don't really want a club to show a small profit only because they sold a player for £35 million, it masks the fact that next year you have a big £30 million plus hole to fund by selling more players kind of what i was getting at, amortisation skewes the whole picture so pure cash flow is a better guide. hmm, in my view you really need to look at both together, and in a medium term they will say the same story anyway. Op Profit is important for the reasons I outlined above - you need to know how well the club can sustain itself day to day. But total profit/loss is also important as it shows how well the club uses these op profits to build a better squad. Ammortisation is important to seeing how the club is run so I wouldn't be relying on cashflow to show this - you really need to look at everything in the accounts to get a true(ish) picture of things again kind of what i was getting at. the original thing i took umption at was the idea that player trading would "blow apart" something which i can't really see. re amortisation, with the club, i presume doing all it's business upfront, does amortisation come into it as much especially with it being much more a haphazard and subjective variable than in the normal business world (ie for accounting for the buying of plant machinery) ? Agreed, wouldn't blow apart, but may mask underlying issues!
