  1. So do we go above Spurs today then? Equal points and GD but by my reckoning more goals scored. 14th place security lol
  2. Without getting into an argument about who is 'better', I do think Bellamy would offer us something different and something which we really need in order to pull defences around a bit. He's a creative player who operates well when he roams in that area between the striker and the midfield, and out on the wings. Martins and Owen are out and out strikers. He'd also offer raw passion, something we are missing from our team as a whole Yeah, Bellamy always goes out there thinking he's the best player on the pitch and determined to show it to everyone. We need a bit of that swagger, even if he's an irritating sod. Someone mentioned above or in another thread that Bellas reckons he is a better player/finisher than Beardsley was. I don't see what's wrong with that, rather someone with that attitude then Sholas (for example)
  3. I think he will be a relative success, a decent Championship Manager I reckon

  5. There's a place for it though, in The Mag, True Faith, NUFC.com etc Not from a 'supporters group' who through the use of Newcastle United Supporters name claim to represent the collecitve that is Newcastle United fans and have stated that they now wish to start a dialogue with the owner
  6. Just a point on his current goal scoring run... How many did he score for Coventry in the season before Bobby signed him?
  7. Its the sad state of football where I wouldn't say £60k a week for a dangerous striker as being high
  8. As so often happens at the Toon. mangers stumble across the best formations completely be accident when injuries build up. If one of Guthrie or Butt is not fit for Sat I could see a 4-3-3 being employed out fo necessity
  9. I take exception at Bernard being called dross like, but a good post nontheless. I also liked Lua Lua. Agree entirely mate. Bernard was my favourite player aside from Shearer for a good season or so. A lot of people thought he/they were shit though, similarly with the likes of Enrique today. That's what i was getting at. Thanks btw, guys. Nice hearing stuff like that from people even if it is the internet. That photo has been photoshopped. An image of a fit Carl Cort has been added to it
  10. We're worse. The better team doesn't always win. What is this, nursery school? Well you said it's not beyond the realm of possibility for us to win. It is, because we couldn't even beat Stoke at home. I can't see us winning any time soon. It's not because we drew at Chelsea
  11. what midfielders could we have on the bench? When you've got Colo who can play DCM comfortably and Owen who could drop back into a more ACM role then you can get away with not having a CM on the bench. Instead he sticks a RM into the middle, a RB (who's weak point is going forward) at RW and a CB at right back. He then later takes off our last remaining CM for another CB who is shite in CM and removes our pacey outlet
  12. This. Unless your name is Obafemi Martins or Jonas Gutierrez, you can fuck off. You can't take all the blame away from Joe. You don't take a Ferrari offroading, neither do take a 4x4 around silverstone. Similarly you don't try and fit 4 centre halves into one pitch and play your right winger in centre midfield.
  13. In 5 years from Bobby to Joe, via Souness and Fat Sam. (I'll exclude Glenn as at least he is basically a decent human being)
  14. Yup, and the best way to defend a lead is to keep fear in the opposition. The last thing you do is take off pace up front and completely change youe centre midfield
  15. When a former player does that it suggests that he left hating the place. Maybe the Everton half time rumours are actually correct
  16. Not good enough Yorkie Bar. You have to stick to your guns and reference how good Faye was in any argument about our defence. Then eventually you will get your own 'Feather-weight Championship Thread' where it is you against all the Bassong lovers
  17. Dunno why but I've got a horrible feeling that Owen is going to miss this one. Absolutely nothing bar a gut feeling to back this up! Given Beye Colo Bassong Enrique Guthrie Butt Zoggy Jonas Dukes Martins
  18. Its not Ashley vs Keegan It's NUFC vs Keegan. The £8m or whatever will not come out of Ashleys pocket directly. this, its Keegan vs Ashley, i know whos side i'm on,.
  19. Oops, had been talking about stupid games you used to play and Ludo was one of them. Freudian slip there
  20. If Owen buggered off I would look at bringing the Welsh dwarf back if you are looking at West Ham. The get a target man in
  21. Two out wide, one free role One main striker. A variation on the Keegan Mk1 with Beardsley roaming behind a main striker
  22. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,58111.msg1587486.html#msg1587486 my opinion on the rest of your post that I clipped is that its too little too late, he's been a disaster and lots of you younger guys are now seeing what the club was run like for decades before, eeeer,, 1992. Not quite so bad, but getting there. I also agree that the clubs ambition is now limited to staying in the top league. Now, THAT is "going backwards", because its a major shift in policy. But I pointed this out ages ago too. Before this exercise in revisionist history runs it's course, it's worth pointing out that we have been struggling in the bottom half of the table for the last FIVE years. Ashley has been here for only ONE of those, which means that Freddy Shepherd was in charge for FOUR years of similar struggle. That was despite spending heavily on players, some of who turned out to be massive wastes of money. It could be argued it was the Roy Keane route to disaster. Something to think about. I think your maths is very poor. Enlightening response It should be. 5th and 7th is struggling in the bottom half of the table is it? That's revisionist. Roeder's seventh place involved long periods in the bottom half and relegation was talked about even back then
