  1. That's actually a tough one. Shearer up to Bobby's last season over the FA Cup every time, general enjoyment is more important to me than a one off cup. However post this point Shearer started to become a bit of an issue in that we couldn't simply drop/sell him but this stopped us moving forward with a replacement. Can I take 8 years of Shearer over the cup instead?
  2. Manager of the Month for November with 3 wins?
  3. What sort of midfielder is Sensi? A Kante type or a goal scoring superstar hero?
  4. not as good as he thought he was. his finishing was awful. Scholes scored more at St James Park than he did. But also a key part in one of our most exciting and effective teams over the past 30-40 years. Not arguing that the end product (actual and metaphorical) was not as good as it could and should have been but he played a key role in some of Robson's best teams
  5. There is an argument to have such a keeper in a World Cup squad where you take 3. Mentally having someone who is used to needing to be ready at any time makes sense rather than having 3 keepers who are used to starting games.
  6. Wheres the conflict of interest? Also, MA taking cash out of Newcastle United is not a reportable event other than in the annual accounts where his loan balance will be documented. MA putting money into SD (again its likely to be adjusting a loan balance to or from SD from or to MA) would only be reportable in the same way. Its completely understandable that we all think that what MA is doing is criminal in terms of running a football club, but in reality it is 'criminal', not criminal. The only thing we could possibly have on him - and its tenuous at best - is that as a director he can not make decisions/actions that he knows are detrimental to the company. As we remain solvent and (presumably) are paying our creditors he would also pass this. It sucks, but technically not doing anything wrong so they don't have announce a cash input of £90m, if indeed that has happened, until the relevant years accounts? SD that is I wouldn't have thought so, there will be certain times that they need to (cash injection through additional share issues etc) but 90% of the FTSE 100 will have external loans of various guises that you never hear about (bank loans being the obvious one). You'd be surprised how little actually needs to be reported as it happens

  8. Of course the other thing with Shay was that for a lot of his time here he had Harper breathing down his neck who could come in and stake a claim to be number 1 keeping him on his toes We've not had competition for our number 1 since then which has led to complacency from our custodian(s).
  9. Its not just about who he supports, if you live within 10 miles of a ground you are likely to in a position where your performance will be affected by the pressure you get from fans whilst going about your normal life. The FA putting refs in this position is stupid, but with a relatively small elite list of refs enforcing this along with who they support is likely to result in some refs getting a disproportionate amounts of any one teams games. A bigger pool of better refs with a good geographic spread is the answer to then allow a minimum radius to be applied to who does who
  10. Pogba and Lukaku into everyone's fantasy league team for this one then? Pretty much nailed on Pogba motm performance
  11. Could be 18 months before we find out though possibly? If he did it after June 30th then it won’t show in the next set of accounts due in March(ish) 2019. We’ll have to wait until the following set in 2020. Is that right? Yes it'll be 2020 if it was outside last year's accounts which it probably will be. If it is true then hopefully he won't be here when those land and no one will give a shit. Maybe not, a significant loan repayment may need to be disclosed as a post balance sheet event. Not definitely the case, but a possibility
  12. 4 points from our first 5 games would have been OK before a ball was kicked, we should have picked up 3 at Cardiff and probably a point here so we are doing it the hard way. Got to play Kenedy, Rondon and I'd go Muto ahead of Perez for a bit more pace and movement. Hopefully Shelvey is fit, if so I'd partner him with Ki, Diame needs taking out the team for a couple of games and lets see what Ki is like with a more creative player alongside him
  13. The speed of getting to a decision should improve in a couple of years as well, understandable that they are taking a bit of time during its infancy to make sure the decision is as uncontestable as possible
  14. If only teams would stick to a strip for life. Every time I see that kit and the away one it is just perfection
  15. So from a rule of one home ground per season Spurs are going to have 3?
  16. I invite anyone writing a defender off after a couple of games to look back at the starts to their Man Utd careers that Evra and Vidic had. Of course not all turn out decent and for every Vidic there is a Boumsong but you really can't tell after 2 or 3 games
  17. Its your middle sentence that nails it. The message from the very top that defines the culture of the club is that we are driftwood and there is no desire to do anything other than just survive in the Premier League or when that fails get back up first attempt. In any business if that is drilled into you - and its visible from the lack of care in the ground, the training facilities, the outsourcing of many departments compounded by the public attacks on anyone showing any form of wanting to do better for the club - no manager can beat the culture. The real worry is that Rafa is keeping a semblance of professionalism in the playing staff, remove him and watch it all fall apart
  18. To be fair, all of them just stood and watched. There’s something soundly wrong about this club atm. Yeah it’s ashley and his zero ambition. Must be shit working in that sort of atmosphere. will anything be Rafas fault, like ever? cut out this Ashley shite 24/7 , its about attitude of better players thinking they are better than the oppo. I’m not sure it is that in this case. I think they look like they know they’re beaten already. its the managers job to get them up for it, to blame FMA for everything is getting fucking stupid man He's set the tone. Transfer policy, training facilities, the lack of maintenance of SJP, rows over bonuses, the attacks on Rafa etc etc There is only so much a manger in any walk of life can do when the top brass make it painfully obvious that the club is dead
  19. So because you think he said nothing wrong, anyone who disagrees is a "local player hater"? Literally no one on here hates local players. i didn't say 'anyone who disagrees is a local player hater' did i? with regards to your 'no-one on here hates local players' comments i think you need to read the Paul Dummett and Jack Colback threads and probably this one That's not because they are local though, it's because they simply aren't up to it and (especially in Colbacks case) have been stealing a living from the club
  20. This is how I read it, we pay them for the merchandise, they sell it and keep the lions share of the profits, risk free for SD and just another of the 1000 ways Ashley pockets the club's cash. Matt will be along soon to deny this like, but I 100% believe the money is vanishing through clever accounting and payment for services that the club doesn’t need. There's no clever accounting involved, it's all in shady retail/outsourcing agreements and the lack of sponsorship money. The accounts are too simple for any hidden payments to be in there. That's not to say he isn't 100% using the club for his own gain and tax efficiencies, just that there is no hidden pilfered monies there
  21. He's kneecapped him! It's a red all day long
  22. You are. Does the fact that a free kick was given not suggest that the ref saw it and took appropriate action?
