  2. Considering expectations, it's been a good season overall with the usual ups and downs. Today's game was quite symbolistic for how most of the season panned out actually: expectation-inflating moments followed by the standard gut punches. Despite the lows, I've enjoyed watching it all pan-out far more than any other season since SBR left though.
  3. It was a great season for us. Most people had us pegged for relegation at the start, remember? Disappointing end, granted, but 12th place is still an achievement.
  4. Good season, slightly sour end. Played some really good stuff before the substitutions, but then we lost our shape and momentum. Plenty to build on next year. If nothing else, the lower finish may emphasise to Ashley that we need some decent investment.
  5. The british education system at it's best. lolz
  6. Indeed. At least build a relationship with your money first. Stroke it, show it some love.
  7. i've thougfht that of many managers, mourinho especially Mourinho did a terrific job with a Porto team that were decent but a million miles from the best in Europe. You just have to look at Inter's capitulation this season to see how well he did there, too. Guy has very little to prove.
  8. The main factor in his decision seems to be potential for international selection... I wonder how hard the club have tried to "push" him on Del Bosque? If they wanted to keep Enrique here they should be inviting him or his scouts over to attend matches etc. I'd be interested to know whether this has happened - it would at least send out a positive message to the player.

    Alan Pardew

As has been said so many times in this thread, let's see what happens in the summer... I'm content with him so far.
  10. One doesn't make sense. That's you added to "the list".
  11. What's the difference between saying "her murdered the defender" and "he raped the defender"?
  12. I think I can vaguely remember him hitting the post or the bar or something from a corner once where it looked like he'd tried to score, but I can't remember him ever scoring.
  13. We'll re-open this later in the year when he's genuinely sacked.

    Midfield

Indeed... Just as a poor midfield can make a defence look weak, a lacking forward line can completely stifle the creativity of a midfield. It isn't a coincidence that since Carroll was sold/Best got injured we haven't really dominated a game.

    Sunderland...

For all of those similarities, the biggest difference is the performance-to-expectation levels from both clubs this season.
  16. Absolutely choked at the fact that the shirt is part of his chin.
  17. I'd like to think he'll be more expansive with it than that.
  18. Money. Money? If they played him they would have owed Watford money, and they couldn't afford to so he never played. No, I think it was just money.
  19. Stopped reading at "Williamson - 6.5"... Lad was immense today. Was no better than Colo and that idiotic suicide tackle on Nani cost him half a point. He won a few top-drawer tackles and headers. Thought he out-did Colo today personally.

    La Liga - 10/11

Doesn't mean much like, especially considering Madrid had a player sent off with a decent chunk of the match left. Barcelona spent a lot of time in the first half at least just passing it around the middle third of the pitch. And ultimately the match was drawn anyway. Well yeah, but a draw was more than enough for Barcelona given the teams' respective positions in the table. Why would they take unnecessary risks when they could just keep the ball for the majority of the match and take a point? The CL games will be very different.
