Murray was a decent owner for them, but his ambition was to have 1 more seat than Newcastle. Not to be the better team, not to win things, not to play in Europe. Just to have 1 more seat than their rivals. That's been their problem for pretty much my entire lifetime. They view everything through a lens of how it relates to us. When we were getting relegated and they were above us, they didn't care that they were also circling the drain and would eventually plummet out of the top flight, they were simply happy to be above us. If they ever want to be a successful club they need to forget about their fixation about Newcastle.
  2. Southgate is so conservative he doesn't believe in the left wing.
  3. That loss was 100% on Southgate. Same shit he's done in every game, sit back, defend, look for a bit of brilliance and as soon as the momentum starts to go England's way, instead of pushing on and attacking England get more conservative. The real annoyance of it all is that with Ten Hag keeping his job, Southgate won't get the chance to apply his brilliant tactics at Man Utd.
  4. Who could have seen that coming? We had Spain on the ropes after we scored so of course we began to sit back again.
  5. Turkey will probably win the game and then get the entire squad suspended for the semi after doing a team photo full of neo nazi salutes.
  6. Great penalties but let's not ignore the 120 minutes that went beforehand. It was yet another drab performance from a manager with the tactical nous of a hamster. Eze in particular was awful when he came on. Playing both Bellingham and Foden DOES NOT WORK, how that isn't clear to the manager is incredible. Through to the semi finals despite 5 awful performances. Maybe Southgate is the luckiest man alive.
  7. If you can get a horse to type you really should show it off
  8. That corner was just England's entire Euros campaign summed up. An attacking position leads to a pass back to the goalkeeper. Embarrassing stuff.
  9. Absolutely bizarre stuff. They give a long explanation of how the team is being altered before the game, Saka to LWB with Trippier at RWB, 3 at the back, etc. The moment kick off comes and it looks like the team are set up exactly the same as the last 4 games. It doesn't work. Everyone can see it doesn't work. It's utter insanity to be trying it yet again.
  10. For fans who held up a banner declaring We don't demand a team that wins, we demand a club that tries we complain a lot about a player who pretty much embodies that idea. Miggy worked his arse off for his time here, if he'd had two working feet he wouldn't have been playing for us in the first place. Good luck to the guy.
  11. I'm really looking forward to listening to Shearer & Linekar's podcast about this. They'll be apoplectic.
  12. It's a knockout game on ITV. What did people think would happen?
  13. Pretty much everyone looking at the game can see that changes are required. Southgate though?
  14. Dreadful performance. Subs were made far too late in the game, long after it was clear to everyone that whatever it was that they were trying wasn't working.

Every club reports attendances based on tickets issued rather than bodies through turnstiles. In Sunderland's case it's just far more ridiculous as they have such huge, and obvious, numbers of empty seats.
  16. It's not like Southgate is a newly appointed club manager who has to make a team out of what's given to him. He is able to pick any English player. If the team or squad lack balance or lack players who can play the style of football that the manager prefers, that's all on Southgate, he's the one who decided that these were the players he wanted to wedge into the team, whether they were in their natural positions or not.
  17. There's so little movement from England player when England have possession it's unreal. One player gets the ball and the rest of the team just stands still.

I presume that Gordon knows him as well from the u21s.
  19. We should immediately buy a dozen sites around Newcastle so we can plan for upgrading the training ground and then sell them on after we decide that we don't need so many. Buy Newcastle racecourse too whilst we investigate the option for building a new stadium, then immediately sell it when people complain about moving the ground. Or just buy all those places anyway, develop them for offices and hotels and use the income to boost the FFP limits.
  20. The off-books spending from Man City (and Chelsea) should be the main crime that they're done for. When have you ever seen a story about a Man City player wanting more money when negotiating a contract? It happens with every other club, it happened with us and Joelinton this year, yet it never seems to happen with Man City. How come? Surely they can't be paying all their players exactly what the players want and giving them such a great experience that they never think to ask for more money. So far all the leaks show that the off-books payments were for agents, youth players or Mancini but I'm certain that if people were to dig into player's finances properly they'd find that most of their squad is receiving extra money to top up their contracts.
  21. Good end to the season. 7th place after the injuries we've had is a great result, shame that we have to rely on Man City to give us European football next season.
