De Laurentus refused to sell him him when there was a bull market for him last summer and they could have got £120m or so for him. To be fair he didn’t know how badly last season would go for them. The markets moved on and now no one can entertain the fee/wages he’d want in a move. He’s went to Gala as the other option is sitting out the season as Napoli cut him from their squad.

I think Spurs just did the logical thing and pressed the hell out of Burn and Krafth and it made it very hard for us to build anything from the back. Schar is much more press resistant and can beat his man, whereas yesterday both CBs were press triggers, so his return should help that massively. Stating the obvious I know. No matter how much they dominate, Spurs will pretty much always give you the sort of chances we got and thankfully we had the quality to take them.

They are trying to protect their value I suppose. Most of them aren’t on mental wages or at least on performance related salaries.

Signs a new deal after the window closes with a wage uplift and a release clause of 55/60m and a gentleman’s agreement to go next summer. For all we’ve talked about stagnating etc they were looking down the barrel of selling Olise, Anderson and Guehi in the same window. They might have bought replacements but that’s a lot of established quality to lose in one go.
