I’m really not sure how putting pressure on the owner via the media to invest in the club is manipulating the fans, mind. It’s what any ambitious, hugely successful manager would do.

I’d love to know the truth of what actually went on behind the scenes with him. Been told by multiple sources that the rest of the squad couldn’t stand him by his final year here and he ate out in restaurants alone or with his French mates / family. I absolutely hated our side from 13-16 with very few exceptions, must admit. Papiss I loved. Just a horribly lower-average bunch of nondescript, cheap players who clearly couldn’t give a fuck.

Liked Hatem a lot (helped by the fact I love a maverick winger and the alternatives were predictable, average players at best) but he wouldn’t last long with Howe and this group of players. No chance.

That worked for 3 seasons, to be fair. And Bellamy was a terrific supporting striker. Gordon isn’t. He’s a very good player but he’s not creative in the same way and doesn’t have Bellamy’s unselfishness.

Thing is, there are players who’ve shown far more talent than Osula at a younger age who’ve ended up having very average (at best) careers. Impossible to tell but he’s really fallen on his feet coming here and it’s up to him to earn it. The striker situation is a bit of a mess tbh and it needs cleaning up in the summer with an acquisition or two, Callum packing his bags and Osula on loan somewhere starting games.
