  1. I'd take 40 points here and now if it was offered. Anything extra is a bonus.
  2. I'm really looking forward to the World Cup. It doesn't matter that the bars will be full of people who don't normally watch matches, there's nothing wrong there. It helps create a unique and fantastic atmosphere. Last World Cup myself and a mate booked holidays from work for all of England's matches and the day after as well to recover, and went to the bars for opening time to ensure a good seat. Spent the whole day getting smashed and watching the other games (Assuming England weren't on) whilst the bar got more full and the atmosphere built up and generally had a fantastic time watching a feast of football from all around the world. Although I can't quite do the same this year as I'll not get the time off work, it's going to be fantastic and I can't wait.
  3. Could be worth a punt, just obviously depends on the price.. Babel is one of the least intelligent footballers I've seen in a while. Lacks vision and can't pass the ball. I don't know if this is down to the way Liverpool play (and play him) or if he really is that bad. On the good side though, he knows how to hit the ball and is one of the fastest players in PL today. Sounds like Obafemi Martins.
  4. when david craig retired we still had the old iron main stand, he retired before we were relegated and the old stand was still there well into the 80's. also when has the sun ever shone like that into the milburn. that is the gallowgate goal looking towards the east stand. Yeah, I was going off the roof of the stand, which looks like the old Milburn roof in that photo. Looking again, the size of the stand is too small for the Milburn, and you're right about the sun shining into it. Plus the compelling evidence from others regarding dates etc which was a bit before my time.
  5. Surely we can afford to offer decent money to an 18 year old. It's not as if he'll be asking for £100k/year which is out of our league, he'll be wanting something a little more affordable than that and if we value him highly enough, then there's no reason a deal can't be reached that's suitable to both parties. Never seen anything of him though, could be utter dog shite for all I know...
  6. note the standing crowd at the front of the east stand. It's the Milburn stand in the background.

    Nobby Nicked.

Well, for starters there's not much point staying faithful to your ex-wife, is there?
  8. ...that's Panthers. Both wrong. A black Panther is a black version of either a Leopard, Cougar or Jaguar. They're not a species themselves, just caused by the black spots all merging to cover the whole cat. You can also get white Panthers, which are white versions of the above but somewhat rarer but not to be confused with albino variants of the same animals, which are different again.
  9. That's 3 in my life time then, counting '93 as well. Oh actually 4. According to Wiki, we won something called the "Kirin cup" in 1983, not that I'd ever heard of that until about 1 minute ago and am still very little the wiser even after reading up about it!

    CHAMPIONS!!!

So who got medals in the end and who didn't? There was a story that there was a shortage of them. The pic above shows Loven without one but surely he deserves one as much as anyone?
  11. I think it's more that Spurs overpaid so in anticipation that the second deal would go through in order to help Portsmouth out. When that second deal didn't go through, Tottenham were due £1m back from the overpayment. That's my take on it anyway, seems Spurs have done nothing but try to be helpful here and are now trying to get back what's theirs when Portsmouth failed to uphold their end of the deal.
  12. He should definitely be on the pitch on Saturday, even if not fit to play then at least to lift the trophy and join in the celebrations. Has played his part as much as anyone this season.
  13. Just knew that fan expectations would be in there somewhere. Are these guys for fucking real? No Newcastle fan has any expectations next year. Numbers 1 and 3 are valid, everything else is rubbish (Ie Nicky Butt good in the Championship, Jonas our best player by a mile, Alan Smith is very good, sorry but that's all crap).
  14. Had great fun invading the pitch last night, best match atmosphere I can remember in a long time and the celebrations afterwards were pretty special. When the stewards started lining up about 10 minutes before full time, we were all pointing at the pitch singing "We're going on there, we're going on there... You won't fucking stop us, we're going on there!" They called for backup and pretty much trebled the strength of the line of stewards but it was no use! There was some good banter with some of the stewards just before full time, we knew what was coming and so did they, they knew the eventual outcome but they had a duty to at least try and stop us, but ultimately they knew our intentions were just to celebrate so I don't think there were any hard feelings from most of them.
  15. Was unlucky with the shot that came back of the crossbar last night, but to me he looked slow. Was often beaten to 50/50 balls by defenders by a clear yard, just didn't seem to have any pace at all. Still willing to give him a lot more time, but I'm not seeing a lot yet.
  16. I'd like to echo that Plymouth's fans were excellent last night, more than magnanimous in defeat and very good of them to play us some songs on the PA at full time. Hope they have a swift return to the Championship.
  17. Anyone got any idea on how many tickets we've sold for this?
  18. Just too much scope for it to go wrong imo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_%28disambiguation%29
  19. Not for me. Going to this one, not going to Ipswich. Really hoping we can get a win, hoping we put a good team out and that there's a good atmosphere.
  20. I haven't bought a newspaper in years, and tbh I can't understand why anyone does. If they all went out of business, I'd not lose a minute's sleep and indeed it would serve most of them right. Can't see the need for paper based media like that in this day and age.
  21. Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Southampton away please. Make up for me having to move 360 miles south last year!
  22. at that article. Absolutely pathetic. To think that it passes as professional journalism.
  23. Leauge for me. It'll give us more impetus going into next season and more pulling power with new players than finishing second and unbeaten at home will.
  24. Because its blatently obvious to anyone who watches us however our managers tend to have a habit of not realising this. Im hopeful Hughton understands as it was obvious we needed a Right Winger and for once a manager went and got one True, it has been blatently obvious since *tin hat on*Emre left, that weve needed an attacking centre midfielder Some might say *Tin hat even further on* that Barton is his replacement.
