  1. Only some sort of cockney wideboy wheeler-dealer over the hill type would take a job under Ashley anyway, surely? Martin O'Neill walked out of Villa because they wanted him to promote youth and work under a limited budget, so I seriously doubt he will the man.
  2. A young, promising manager with the respect of his players, and maybe extensive experience as a coach at a top club. Ideally, his manly hair would be half black and half white, and we would look great in either suit or tracksuit.
  3. I'm so fucking angry about this it's untrue. What have we done to deserve Mike Ashley shitting all over our club? Just looked as if things were looking up as well, a few hiccups under Hughton, but let's face it - the majority of our players are awful.
  4. Maybe this is that point some people come to in their later 20s, early 30s, where you realise football isn't worth fucking bothering with.
  5. Sure Mourinho is jetting into Newcastle airport as we speak. More likely Hughton has just annoyed Ashley in contract negotiations.
  6. Not sure I can be bothered with Newcastle under Ashley TBH, this has really got me down.
  7. In business you would call it the 'opportunity cost' I suppose... what to you give up by following a specific course of action? For us, selling Carroll would be giving up a lot, possibly the opportunity ever to be a decent side in the foreseeable future. The players we might or might not sign with the money is too hard to predict or quantify.
  8. True, I realise everyone else was just as bad. The frustrating thing is we look alright when we keep the ball on the deck.
  9. These suspensions could end up costing us a lot of points TBH.
  10. Thought Carroll had a shocking game today, non-existent for most of the game.
  11. Chris needs to earn his money over the next few days, mystifying that the team didn't seem bothered about today's game at all... shades of the relegation season about the way we laid down and died. I rate Hughton, but it will be a challenge to retain our famous 'team spirit' now we are playing with a number of below-par reserve players and losing games.
  12. Awful game today, they just didn't seem to be up for the game at all. We basically just watched West Brom play and gifted them three goals. This is the Newcastle we know we can be... whether it's the 'real' Newcastle we don't really know. Hughton has a big task on to get the players sorted for the next game.
  13. He does need to run into trouble less, but that should come with time in the league. Difficult for him today, he was basically playing midfield by himself.
  14. To me he just looks soft, sluggish, a bit podgy and generally not athletic enough to impose himself on the premier league. Offers very little... other than not being Smith.
  15. He was poor today, but generally he has looked OK. Clearly he was only ever signed as backup to the backup. Losing both our first choice CBs has forced him to start, and forced Taylor to start before he's probably fit. Sol's weakness at the moment is just his side-to-side movement, he doesn't seem to be able to shift his considerable weight quick enough. Poor today, but then so was everyone else.
  16. Good sign that we're getting the better players tied down. Will breath more easily when we've got Enrique confirmed on a 27 year deal.
  17. I would be very surprised if they give him a massive deal, surely that would go against everything they've been doing.
  18. At this point I think we could finish literally anywhere from around 8th to bottom. The league is bizarre. If we lose Carroll then we could be looking at relegation or very close to it, but then to lose Carroll and Ben Arfa would have to go down as 'massively unlucky with injures'. Then again, if Carroll keeps us around 10-12th and Ben Arfa comes back firing, we could be looking at 8th. Hopefully we'll manage to add a forward in January who will lessen this terrifying prospect, at least take some of the pressure off the A-Train.
  19. Well yeah, but if it means absolutely nothing then it doesn't mean we're any more likely to finish lower than higher, surely?
  20. He'll never sit with the fans again, he's learned that it's a totally unrealistic expectation for a chairman/owner. I'd rather he kept thoughts about being 'one of the lads' far from his mind, what got us into this mess in the first place was Ashley thinking a football club could be something fun to do on the weekends.
  21. And some of it remains unfinished and Dubai is now bankrupt. Could easily happen to Qatar/Doha. Really? is it? When it owes 300 times less than the UK? Dont believe the media hype, when the rest of the world is defaulting on debt why would you pay yours? Uk growth predicted at 2% , Dubai at 5%, I know where Id rather be... You should really check the facts before listening to piers morgan. Qatar will be a great world cup, is my point. My company have just made 600 people redundant, a massive reason for this is Dubai cancelling a number of multi-million-pound construction projects. I'm not saying they're bankrupt, but they do seem to be feeling the pinch at the moment.
  22. I think it's good to have a middle eastern/islamic country as well, will be an interesting cultural thing.
  23. The great thing about the World Cup is that it's exciting no matter where it's hosted. Qatar is a bizarre award to be fair.
  24. Its how they handle the expiring contracts of more important players during next summer i am more interested in. If we cant afford to keep the Enriques and Bartons on contracts they will be happy with yet give Taylor a huge rise i wont be so happy given he isnt near the same level. Oh aye, totally, any offer should be in line with his position in the squad, and it would be a disaster if we allowed better players to leave. Saying that, Taylor does have some things going in his favour - his experience, his Englishness etc.
