  1. Fair enough, it wasn't always brilliant, but what's replacing it is 2 more hours of repetitive music to go with the 22 hours a day they play already? 1st they scrapped the exciting commentary of toon games with Justin Lockwood and now this. Real radio have certainly went down in my estimation.
  2. Seen the Japanese team jogging along Quayside yesterday. A couple of them stopped to pose for a photo with my Daughter.

Had to laugh at an old woman on "Look North" tonight. There was a piece about Sunderlands population dropping to 275k according to a cencus, while Newcastles' has risen to 280k. They interviewed a Sunderland woman who said "I was born here, but when i go to Newcastle there's things going on and it's alive. While here is fast turning into a dump."
  4. For anyone who can handle an 18 hour trek, megabus to Amsterdam was £26 each way last i checked. I've booked a planes, trains and automobiles trip to Amsterdam involving a flight out of Glasgow and one back into Manchester with megabus to and from said airports. Was about £110 each return, for flights and buses.
  5. Some confirmation on nufc.co.uk of some of the friendlies at last. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20120712/united-heading-for-germany-and-hungary_2281670_2840613
  6. 2 days before a rumoured friendly in Germany and still no confirmation or denial of actually playing that or many other rumoured friendlies. Is a simple yes or no as to wether or not we are playing somebody too much to ask from NUFC?
  7. Those games v Pompey and Leicester are easily among my most memorable games. The sheer relief after Kellys goal v Pompey and especially after the Leicester game was immense. I was resigned to us playing 3rd tier football after that season. If we survived at all.
  8. I watched it on Virgins' catch up service a couple of days ago. Try typing it into the catch up search if you have virgin tele. That's where i accidentally found it when looking for something else. Love that type of show personaly. Takes you back. Reminded me of school, when everyone was wearing assorted shiny adidas strips. Man City and Brighton were wearing them in this episode and they were the in thing for teams of that era.
  9. When's the draw for next seasons Europa/champions league?
  10. Hate this place, but keep returning for defeat after defeat. Hate their flatpack stadium. Hate their pathetic goal music and their pathetic fans who stoop so low as to sing a premiership rivals name when trying to taunt us by singing Sunderland. I'm not bitter in the least.
  11. SSN were interviewing Rangers fans in their club shop last week, and one of them came out with "The sooner we get out of this league and go to England, the better." What makes them think they'll be welcomed in England? They're so arrogant that they think they can choose which country they play in.
  12. 2 cup finals for chelsea to look forward to, and hopefully these will be a massive distraction as far as their league performances go. They've still a massive hurdle to overcome in Bayern/Real Madrid to actually win the CL.
  13. Think tickets for the preliminaries start at £20 for 2 games that day. Don't know when any more are being released for sale though.
  14. Heard on the radio news that easyjet are doing Newcastle to Amsterdam flights from this winter. Maybe we'll be needing them for the Europa final next year.

That's their only pleasure in life, lapping up any toon misfortune. Their own team give them nothing to celebrate. To some, it seems toon misfortune is more important than mackem success, if they achieved any success of course.

Gulf minimal? Currently 16 points i believe. In one of their numerous relegation seasons, Sunderland won almost as few points in a whole season.
  17. Yes, I can see how a miserable saturday afternoon in the arse end of Greater Manchester would be the perfect trial run for a balmy late summers evening in St.Etienne (or some other similar continetal locale). tbh we're more likely to end up in Donetsk, Tel Aviv or Makhachkala. A trip to Wigan sounds about right. I'd quite fancy some of Europes outposts. Places i'd never go to unless the toon played there.
  18. Anybody hear that mackem nugget on tonights "Legends" ranting on, claiming the euro qualifying rules have been changed with only a few games left to allow us to qualify should we finish 6th. He was trying to say they're giving England another place. I know it's confusing, but i'm pretty sure we aren't getting another place, unless Chelsea win the CL of course, and that we can qualify in 6th because of the way things have panned out in the cups. Talk about bitter though.

  20. Done Metz, Monaco and Eindhoven with the club in the 90's. Hellish travelling but it was a fairly cheap adventure back then. Have used the "budget" airlines for the more recent ones, but my favourite, better than Barcelona, Juventus etc was to Zulte Waragem in Belgium on Eurostar. Went without tickets amid scaremongering that anyone without a ticket would be turned back. Turned out to be false thankfully. Fantastic city, Ghent. Ended up in the home end, but experienced great place, people and pubs.

    If indeed we still existed.
  22. I've got that book called "Black and white daft". It's a book of fans recollections of games between 1979-1984, and on the front cover there's a picture of the West Ham end at the time the petrol bomb landed, a huge circle in the crowd and smoke billowing from the terraces. There's a newspaper piece from the time in which the lad who threw it said he wanted to put Newcastle on the map and was sick of us being in the old 2nd div'. When asked by police if he intended to hurt anyone, he said "I did it because i hate those cockney b**t**ds." He got jailed for 3 yrs. It's a great book though. Fantastic nostalgia and pictures. Available from all good book stores - and the "Back page". Only joking back page staff. Can't beat your place for good book selection.

Keep hearing about the "huge" demand for cup replay tickets at the SOS. 20k+ of the loyalist football supporters the world has ever had, crawling out of the woodwork since the Arsenal game in the last round.
  24. Have done of late, but seem to be made up of rejects/academy players stepping up a level.

Watching MOTD at the weekend, when i noticed an ad at the SOS saying something like "Newcastle international airport. Your airport." Oh no it's not. What about the mackems at the derby, singing "Newcastle's a s**thole. I wanna go home". In reality they choose to spend half of their lives in Newcastle.
