Ok so he is high ceiling. that seems to be the price point we buy at, the 60-75m. Ekitike Sesko Pedro Woltemade. Even Mbemo or Cunha id put here. Isak Haaland Mbappe etc are at the elite 100m+ level. That’s the level that is beyond us. Man City though bought KDB Aguero Toure early on and they stayed the distance. It helped they won the title within 3 years of the takeover. I thought Bruno Tonali Botman and Isak were our equivalents. And had PSR not existed I think we could have been at that level already, Isak and Bruno came early before these restrictions were so apparent so would have thought they were signing up for the new big boys early. the ambition we’ve not been able to match for Isak is definitely a consequence of PSR, he would have got his 300k a week pay rise and all that otherwise.

Batistuta was on a par with Shearer for me - loved him as a player

But according to 'the most moral army football fans in the world' everyone else is wrong or controlling the media or being unfair or hurtful

Was Klinsmann their last one? Would Bierhoff or Klose be considered of that level?

How can we be below Villa, West Ham and Leeds? Selling Isak and getting two is actually better for us overall - a 60minute player for more depth

It's weird, I thought Owen was the last player who was overt in his opinion how much bigger and better he was than Newcastle and how he was doing us a favour by being here. Which, given his status at the time, borderline worldclass, recent Balon Dor winner, coming from Real Madrid, Englands number 1 striker etc, and coming into Souness' crap team that finished 14th, you could argue a case for - even if we had been top 5 previous 3 seasons. With Isak, he never came across like that but has shown his utter contempt even more than Owen which is even more unforgivable, especially because a) we're the ones that developed him to this level, he wasn't a superstar before he came, just a Sesko level prospect with a high ceiling. and b) NUFC are also ambitious and an elite club in the making - it's not as though it's a poor fit for him to be the poster boy of this project. Genuinely baffled by his thinking but who cares anymore

Next summer if we get CL or win another trophy this season, I’d want to do a full blown three to four purples to actually go for a title challenge. Howe will be five years in at that point. Big names like Leao/williams/Rodrygo on LW, a top ST, a top CM and a top CB too.? Maybe even a keeper.

There seems to be a pattern of all the ones we hate most have got a deep link to Liverpool somewhere, not including the Ashley era Souness Owen Isak Dalglish as the four big ones that stand out Barton is from Liverpool even if he never played for them Rush Enrique Hamann as minor ones if you add Ashley era then Bruce is a must. The worst of the worst as well as Ashley of course. ironically though some of the biggest legends of the club are also Liverpool linked, Keegan, Beardsley, Benitez

If we’d kept him we’d have 9 points right now
-
In a way Schar still has a lot to offer and integral to the way we play so it would be nice to phase him out slowly as opposed to bring in a starter over him immediately
-
Like it or not, none of this would have happened under Ashworth.

Hinchcapie is a good signing. Arsenal have a better squad than Liverpool tbh
-
if this was FM we've let a 5 star player go and a whole lot of 2's (Longstaff, Osula, Dubravka, Targett, Wilson, Vlach). Who we've bought in are mostly 3 stars - some with the potential to go to 4 stars (Woletmade, Ramsay and Elanga). Thiaw, Ramsdale and Wissa are 3 stars. So we've got a better squad but definitely not a stronger first XI.

7 right now 8.5 if we get one more MF/AM
-
Just imagine - from rejection FC to winning the transfer window on the last day
-
I'm sure Kroos is buying it as we speak
