I would say that after 206 goals and all the other things that he contributed to our club (assists, leadership help while defending corners, holding the balll up). I am staggered they would even come close to a conclusion that Shearer coming to our club was a bad thing. Most makems favourite player of all time is Gary Rowell.... ...Gary who ? says the rest of the country. They wouldn't know a real legend if it bit them on the arse. they were claiming that Quinn and phillips were better than shearer and ferdinand. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We've had plenty players bought because they scored a rare goal against us, from a Martin Taylor (think that was his name) from Oxford way back in the Awful 80s, to Ryan Taylor now. Taylor has been perhaps the best one, and thats a bit depressing, eh ? I think you mean Andy Thomas? We got him from Oxford.

OOPS! Just voted for Lovenkrands....thought the thread title said 2010-2011

Well done lads! ....and is that Andy Carroll with his arm around Steven Taylor's shoulder??

inferiority is drilled into them from the day they are born, they can fight it all thier lives. they can twist and make up things on the internet. But they can't escape the truth that they are a smaller club,-and it eats at them every single day. NAIL.ON.HEAD.

No they haven't. The "Messiah" thing is a media led nonsense, no one apart from them actually calls Keegan, Robson or Shearer the messiah do they? Sunderland actually invented the Messiah bollocks when they so christened Bob Stokoe (ironically a lifelong NUFC fan).

It didn't say trophyless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVWX7VUg5ng I stand corrected...still a bunch of Len Fairclough c***s though. len fairclough......that'll need explaining to the kiddietwinkies on here. I'll wager that's not the first time the words Len,Fairclough and kiddytwinkies have been in the same sentence. that same sentence would also contain the words "pool, out, everybody, the"

This. Anyone who thinks that Bruce is anything other than a Manure fan needs to dig out the tape of the 5-0. What did he say? Did he want his employers to win? Watch the tape (half time summary if I recall correctly) Oh and by the way, Bruce left Manure the summer before the 5 - 0 game

This. McNally has had it in for NUFC for donkeys years. If anyone could be arsed to look, I'm sure you'll find some similar article of his knocking us, even in "those wonderful days under Bobby Robson"

Never was a bloke more aptly named.

Who cares about the colour of the Puma ffs. Going on about it only brings us down to their level - remember the SMBs boycoutting Sugar Puffs etc, pathetic small minded nonsense.

I think you're right, had forgotten that one

New Years Day (or Boxing Day) was traditionally Derby day, along with either Good Friday or Easter Monday. I can't remember singing the song before New Years Day 1985, so it may celebrate Peter The Great's hat trick that day

I guess you didn't see Franny Lee play then?

'course we all hate Cockneys up here... ...I mean just look at that bastard Malcolm Macdonald and as for those twats Robert Lee, Warren Barton and Les Ferdinand.... Tell you what, go and make me tea luv and keep your nose out of something you know nothing about.

The photograph is later than 1971 or we wouldn't have had the East Stand which was finished in 1973. My guess is that it's between 1975 and 1980 but I couldn't do better than that, St James Hall was knocked down after 1975. Here's a photograph of St James Hall which was replaced by the Metro. http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/1308/leazstjameshall1965.jpg if your certain that the wrestling hall was knocked down in 75 and its not in the pic, hen the pic is 75-78. im pretty sure the leazes end was demolished in 78. i was lead to belive the game to celebrate the opening of the east stand was a friendley agsist benfica in 1971. but i suppose it could have ben 73, however macdonald told me it was his first ever game at sjp pre season. i was defo there in the east stand. The stories dont seem to add up tho. The East Stand was fully opened for the match with West Ham in April '73. It was partially open for the Cup match with Luton just after New Year, but the completion was delayed due to a builders strike. The Leazes End was indeed knocked down in Summer '78. I got this info from the book Fortress St James by club historian Paul Joannou. Work on the Metro started in 1974, by the way, although it wasn't opened till 1980.
