Wondered why it took so long.

This season has been rotten inside and outside NUFC - for football at large I don't know how anyone could spin it. 14 also-rans Vs the 6's ESL. Bruce changing the target goalposts. His throwing of players under the bus, the BLM/online discourse and Bruce hijacking it to make himself look the victim. NUFC a one/two man team. Fake fan noise. Demonising fans online. Horrendous winless streaks. Multiple clubs abusing the furlough including NUFC. The PL blocking the takeover. The discourse surrounding the takeover. Fans having to argue of the ethics of it all whilst Sky pontificate. Stories about the Qatar world cup. Bullshit CL reform. Far from the beautiful game as it's ever been. What do I/we really get from it anymore other than a set of colours to blindly cheer? Contempt and a hand thrust outward to cough up for the privilege.

I hear these arguments. What do you actually want to happen?

Whilst I don’t disagree entirely, this idea that you can only protest when nothing is at stake neuters the entire concept somewhat. A level of sacrifice is necessary. People seem to want to only be involved with things easy, quick and in line with their match day routine. Almost everything has been tried along those lines. Not that a protest is even happening.

It’s almost as if actual functioning forums don’t operate as echo chambers.

Maybe - Leeds can at least do it with a straight face

Some very crucial players worthy of credit mind
-
The club SM can fuck off protesting that super league stuff like that mind - as if they aren’t arsed about competing

This thinking is why we are where we are at NUFC and football in general. The players are employees and the nature of football transfer is mercenary. What goes on on the pitch in 5 days time takes precedent over the future of the clubs/sport for the next 5 years or 5 decades. How it affected Paul Dummett in a weekend in April 2021 pales in significance.

Same issue is at clubs like us just with a different lens/MO...gravy training at the expense of everything.
-
I find it fascinating like - the nature of following your club and where the line is for...gulp...boycott acceptable. It's played in macrocosm this time and all this talk of jacking tickets in etc has been on talk radio across the land.

Sorry I don't doubt it's about Ashley out. My ears and excitment are being pricked far more re: stuff like the pledge and the (no doubt temporary) heat of debate surrounding reform at the minute. Its the time to strike whilst the iron's hot for fans. This government seem prepared to court them right now at least - closet socialist Olly Dowden and the Pm chief among them. I don't know how I feel about a Saudi takeover, I guess I'd hold my nose but it's a continuation of the direction of travel in light of all this and I'd at least not do myself the disservice. A successful franchise model under a culture of a sovereign state could mean exactly the same issues these others clubs face. Newcastle's fanbase is massive. At the risk of sounding arrogant - we aren't amongst the Burnley's and Brighton's of this world...just yet. Despite howver Bruce and Ashley's want to paint. Don't get me wrong - Ashley is just at a different part of the spectrum of the same problem.

or equally our situation and the bottom feeders after a quick buck. Sportswashing, Super League, PFM's, Jobs for the boys/know your place. It's fucking rotten and I hate it actually.
