I think a large number of us on here thought exactly this when we were linked with him and wrote as much at the time. I, like many others, thought he had attributes (pace, ability to strike and cross with both feet) that mitigated some of the failure in the technical quality to make him a useful player for us. This has sadly proved completely false and he’s been absolutely appalling for most of his time on the pitch for us. He doesn’t even just mess up the difficult stuff. He can’t do a five yard pass correctly, he can’t make simple runs effectively. He can’t cross the ball with control. I don’t know what’s happened to his crossing as I saw him cross well for Forest. Fundamentally, I think he’s a footballer who cannot play against defenders who are near him or behind him. He can only play in space and if he has time in space he has the capacity to control a football passably. He has barely had that with us and he is unlikely to get it with us as we don’t play on the counter attack so we will continue to see him play horrifically every single time he’s up against a team who sit deep or have an organised shape

I can’t cope with the fact that our right wing is tragic every single game no matter who plays there. There is a major issue with the quality there. Our left wing isn’t dramatically better, with Barnes going through an awful spell of form and Gordon having given up and decided when he wants to actually play to a decent level. We look fucking clueless going forward and we concede messy goals with teams scoring inside four yards of our goal all the time. It’s dire and I do hold Howe partly responsible for that but I think there are lots of other reasons that include the sporting structure behind him during his time here, as well as the transfers last summer (Howe gets something of a pass here due to the disgraceful behind-the-scenes mess from PIF). I also think we don’t have the depth of squad to cope with playing on four fronts. This is down to financial regulations but also Howe not trusting players on the fringes of the first 11 (sometime justifiably, sometimes not). Howe clearly needs a lot of time on the training pitch and huge buy-in from the players. That buy-in has gone and I’m massively fucked off with the team for that. Howe deserved better but he’s not remotely blameless. I still back him but I fucking hate watching us and he has to make some changes to how he uses the squad and he needs to be a peripheral figure involved in the summer transfer window

He can’t weight a pass, he can’t shield a ball, he can’t direct a pass, he can’t read the flight of a ball, he can’t win a duel, he’s extremely weak in the challenge. He’s fucking awful

Not exactly an endorsement from him about his plans to stay with us. However ultimately I don’t care, as long as he keeps trying until his last game with us that’s fine. He won’t leave like Isak did, if he leaves it’ll be with some class and that’s ok. What Isak did was unforgivable

It’s absolutely fine having a “manifesto” for what you want to achieve but you actually have to put the structures in place in order to allow that to happen. We’re going over ground that has been covered endlessly but there is no way we can achieve any of our goals unless there is a much more streamlined, dynamic decision making process for all aspects of the club. There is no way to climb to the top in football unless you can make decisions quickly and follow through with actions quickly. We neither make decisions quickly nor act quickly

Excellent range of close passing, great touch and carrying control as well as understanding when to release the ball with a high tempo. Looks really promising

Hopefully it’s led by PSG. They are totally committed to the fast break with high tempo passing. Doesn’t matter where they are on the pitch, they race forward and commit players. It’s great to watch and the best football currently on show
