I'd be pretty pleased if Remy was the only player we brought in. Easily pleased then. Still one injury away from Jonas or Shola playing in that case. If we go with two up front as Pardew has suggested then it should leave Shola as fourth choice. Agree we could definitely use greater depth out wide/up front though, but my expectations are fairly low and I think adding Remy would give us (potentially) a very good first XI.

While this is true i really do doubt Remy is playing as a wide forward, i see a system with 2 strikers what that is i don't know but its happening as far as i'm concerned. Ince would be the much needed winger we have been clamoring for, i don't think Ince and Remy have anything to do with one another. That said its probably bullshit. I can't see any of our rumoured three striker targets coming to sit on the bench, so if we're playing two up top I can only see one of them coming in. Maybe I've just being conditioned to expect a lack of depth in that area. I'm not even convinced there is a clear plan or formation in mind at this point really, considering we still seem to be pursuing Bent despite Cisse's dispute being resolved. Our 3 targets are all very different.

Nowhere near Remy's level as a wide forward (and I can't see us signing both), but would be a decent signing.
-
Really hope this goes through. Can see him waiting to see if he gets any more attractive offers, though.
-
I think he's going to divide opinion. Adebayor would be a better comparison from what I've seen.

The mirror reckon spurs have made an enquiry.

Jordi Amat looked good.

Diego Lugano on his way to WBA it seems.

Di Canio will prove to be a good manager.

I'd love to believe it but I still can't wrap my head around us having Cisse, Remy and Gomis to choose from. I'll believe it when it happens. Same.

Spot on. A competent manager would have our squad as it stands (+ a decent striker in case of injury to Cisse) in the top 10 without any difficulty. The addition of a wide forward, a replacement for Ameobi's spot on the bench and maybe a few more promising younger players around the squad (e.g 4th choice centre back instead of Williamson) would see us challenging for Europe. Pardew is far more of a problem than our recruitment policy. Eh, apart from the fact we look like doing none of that? If the striker signing was good enough it would probably suffice. This squad + Remy + a quality manager would challenge for Europe. Any other deficiencies in our recruitment policy are exacerbated by Pardew's awful management.

David Crossan @davidmcrossan 1m #OL pres #Aulas has told AFP that things are moving forward in terms of #Gomis to #nufc

Mine too. His character is questionable irrespective of the outcome of the court case, but he's realistically the best we can attract for the wide forward role that needs filling. Really hope this gets done.

I would have expected a small improvement on last season at least but the good transfer business being done by those around us makes me sceptical.
-
Fingers crossed. Aye, how that'll benefit us. Wake up. He's either a big step down from Cisse or a terrible partner for him .Wouldn't want him if I was a Fulham fan. Anyway, fwiw (probably not much) : NUFC Stats @NUFC_Stats 1h Darren Bent is close to completing a move to NUFC, compromising at £50,000 per week, according to the Belfast Telegraph #nufc

Personally think he would do well to reach Championship level in his career. Yep. He's always looked poor to me.

I think Gouffran but I don't think Debuchy was 'awful' before that Liverpool game Gouffran made the most important contribution (goal against QPR) but after a bright start seemed to be fairly average in terms of his attacking qualities to me, in spite of his good workrate. Barring a few silly mistakes, Debuchy was pretty consistently one of our better performers in most games imo - solid defensively (and suprisingly good aerially), good going forward, decent positional sense and comfortable in possession.
-
I think Debuchy probably performed the best out of our january buys.

Wouldn't be so bothered about Cisse going if Cardozo or Gameiro replaced him.
