It is such a lazy cliché, as well. Like people always saying that the bottom half of La Liga, is absolutely awful. Or even worse, anything outside the top 3-4 teams. There top 4 has changed even more than ours in recent years, I believe. So it must be reasonably competitive and decent? In fairness, because of the money over there, in comparison to the Prem. You don't have as many star players and big names, at the smaller clubs. But have people not been watching our league for the last 4-5 seasons, or something? There have been some woeful sides and some dreadful football on show. I don't get why fans and pundits alike, are so sure that our league is massively superior? I wouldn't have backed us, sunderland, WBA, Palace etc. Against some bottom half Spanish sides. Most teams I watch on Sky, seem to actually try and play football, TBF. Which is more than can be said for the English teams I just listed.

100% this. I was speaking with a couple of mackems at the weekend about this. Both said "he'll be great for you in the Championship." I just don't see it? Guthrie had great technique and was good at set pieces. Nolan scored a boat load of goals. Barton was just too good for the division when he did actually play. He seems to have proven that throughout his career. Too good for the Champ and not really good enough for the Prem. Yet what does Colback do? He has no redeeming qualities. He runs around a lot, randomly presses the opposition, gets booked more than Tiote and pops up with a goal once in a blue moon. If we get promoted, I don't think he'll have much of an effect on that. I just realised, for long spells, we had Nolan and Guthrie playing in a midfield 2, yet we still walked the league Has it improved much since then?!
