  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27786442 Hereford United have been expelled from the Football Conference following the club's failure to pay their bills. The Bulls' fate has been in the balance since the full extent of their financial worries emerged in the weeks since their dramatic final-day escape sent Chester down instead. Chester have been reinstated as a Conference Premier club and Hayes & Yeading will stay in Conference South.
  2. I find it hard to believe what Wullie is saying is contentious. Obviously if he plays well gets his head down and is humble then people may well consider their views on him. That hasn't happened yet.
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27762435 Fifa president Sepp Blatter claims allegations surrounding the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid are motivated by racism. Qatar was chosen as host in December 2010 but corruption claims have prompted Fifa to begin an inquiry. "There is a sort of storm against Fifa relating to the Qatar World Cup," Blatter said. "Sadly there's a great deal of discrimination and racism." Fifa will rule on the validity of the bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in September or October. At that point, the president of football's world governing body said, the "matter will be closed". Speaking to African football officials in Sao Paulo, Blatter confirmed that the latest allegations would be discussed at the Fifa Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday. He said Fifa needed to combat "anything that smacks of discrimination and racism". "It really makes me sad," he added. Glad that's been cleared up Sepp.
  4. Lets buy Sunderland's squad on this basis.
  5. Hard to believe the Irish are often characterised as feckless simpletons. Aye, yet everyone loves us and hates the English. Lets face it the Irish sound like fun.

  7. One of those Siem only deals.
  8. Wake me up, when Sepp's tenure ends.
  9. Real Ross McCormacks are expensive. You have to pay the English premium for Scottish strikers.
  10. £6,000 per week. He could have been and most probably would have been (if it weren't for philanthropic NUFC) relegated with Sunderland. Doubt we would have heard from him again if that had been the case.
  11. Decent enough if he's Gosling's replacement. Horrible if he's Cabaye's replacement. Best player, leaves in January, still not replaced. Mediocre squad player leaves at the end of season. Replaced instantly. Pardew can't do anything with good players. With average players he can take you down a level (or two).
  12. Imagine how far down the list of CFs he'd be if he remained loyal to England (who aren't even anything special). Nigeria
  13. Depends what you mean by recent. If the normal definition - none. 10 years? 20 years? Around 30 and I can think of a decent number of names. By decent I mean 2 more. Troisi is a Socceroo, Tim Krul. Milner was 18 when he signed for us (not really a youth player). Other than that, Pattison was in the Provisional Squad for 2010. Did Troisi play in a WC? Was he in a squad? Tim Krul really barely counts. He didn't come through the academy. He spent a single year there. I'm proud of him too tbh. James Milner was never a part of the youth set-up. Shola Ameobi is the only Newcastle player in over 20 years (that I can think of) to have properly come through our Youth Academy and go on to a World Cup finals. Troisi is in the 23 man squad for Australia in this World Cup. He played for the youth team at NUFC. Ask a question get an answer. Maybe some people just enjoy trivia.
  14. Wickham's price was dictated by his age. 27 year old Ross McCormack is playing for Leeds in the Championship for good reason. His record prior to this season is rank average. The only people who would pay anywhere near 6-8m for him is a newly promoted team severely lacking in imagination and lacking the ability to sign better players.
  15. So do I. Some of the crap being spouted on here is ridiculous. There have been numerous players that have played for both teams and done well. What was he supposed to have done when 16? Refused to take a shot at being a pro because it was Sunderland? Behave. Who has played for both and done well? Anyone from the last 30 years? Our first permanent signing in 18 months is an out of contract mackem who is, at best, average. Bracewell, Venison & Clark all within the last 20 years or so. Bracewell and Venison are the only two I could think of (both are about 50 years old now). Lee Clark is despised by their fans so he can't count. Shay Given.
  16. I think he's a Pardew signing and don't want anyone signed who helps to consolidate the managers position. It's not really an issue of playing for Sunderland, it's the way he disrespected the club whilst he was there, entirely gratuitously.

  19. Reminded me of Kevin Keegan's 'Argentina won't be at Euro 2000, because they're from South America.'
  20. I've always felt if they persisted with Qatar '22 in Winter that the English FA should host an invitational Summer Tournament. At the end of the day if the various football associations told FIFA where to go then that would be the end of FIFA.
