James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)
Wolfcastle replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
If we offered Leicester what they wanted for Maddison we wouldn't be able to buy anybody else. Maybe they just dont want to go all in one one player as opposed to strengthening two positions. Its a balancing act. Though personally that's the road I'd go down because that gets us to another level and we can worry about forwards we actually want down the line, a line signing a Maddison enhances, not make-shift ones. Get a striker on loan on top of that and it would have been great business. -

Including with two teams that should have been challenging for promotion (and were before and after him), Bruce has won 14 out of 55 in the championship. (37 out of his last 131 league games overall) *and this is being generous because after he was appointed at Sheffield Wed he took time off (not sure exactly when) but they were unbeaten for a couple month, won two of the last seven when Brucie was definitely around -

Joint top after four games with 10points having scored 11 goals this time last year under their last manager. -
1 win in 5 games, let the good times roll

though I bet when West Brom fans look back on it they'll think '22nd wasn't too bad'. -

6 wins in 29. Relegation form since he walked through the door of a club that was going for promotion. Still gets defended more than the last manager who left them 5th. -
Tomasson wasting a great opportunity and Bruce not winning. Takes me back.

I'm the opposite, seen him play, twice and wasn't monitoring him either time but just have a bad feeling about this as a signing.

Not knowing where were going to lie come September its hard to say I suppose. Just feels too much like its coming out of the kitty for better players that will definitely improve us at the moment. Stick that on top of what we've bid for Maddison and we'd be way better off imo. The fact that he's seen as not a forward only makes that doubley the case.

The similarties with us and Ashley are stark. One part of me wants to offer the same lack of consideration we got but cant help but empathise *which i thought was always the case - Brighton, Wimbledon to an extent Leeds - football fans sticking together - until we were so obviously badly owned

Dont think this radge is worth 23 pages never mind £23m

I voted for either 8th or 9th in the above poll. Its enough for me at this point but worry if its enough for Bruno/Botman or to attract more of their ilk. A bit like the above post, its the wasted opportunity that is the concern, now we have opportunities and the means to waste them.

Have to say if this transfer doesn't go through, it'll be right up there with the time the Salako transfer didn't happen and we got Ginola instead for guttedness
-
Not the least bit interested in Isak at any price, much less £47m So I wonder what number he'll get. A timley reminder we could do worse than signing nobody else

Be worth it if only to slaughter each others performances.

chances are they might be stars if we sign them

Bring back Ossie. 53 goals in our first 12 games that season.

Usually finished above them in the PL era and had lost twice in ten games until Dalglish took over. Coincidence?

So just defended badly for 70% of the first-half, and the apparent "crucial" 70% at that. Teams not the only thing defending itself very badly is it -
If only there was a precedent for panic mongering in a window under this regime being proven horribly wrong, then people could be assuaged.

Its totally rational like, just not an equivalent except in the sense that if you rabidly hate Saudi Arabia primarily because they mostly own your rivals, then you can't be okay with your owners being fine to do business with them too (and every other company that does likewise). The only difference is the amount of business or perecentage of ownership, its either deplorable and terrorist sympathising or its not.

Whataboutery = don't apply context to my prefixed narrative Speaking of banning context so as to live in wilfull delusion No mention of like for like gates this week? Thought not. Being as they're 10k down against QPR and the second home game.
