  1. The argument they will have, rightly or wrongly, is that they will say that Greenwood has not been convicted of anything. They will want to support him through the difficult time, blah, blah
  2. Can’t wait for the days when we have so many top quality players. But when one is injured we can still just drop £40m on somebody new
  3. That videos gets me emotional. I really hope he goes on to do well - top lad
  4. We still have some games before the season, but I think he deserves a start against Villa. It will probably be Joelinton on the left if we want to get some more physicality in the midfield
  5. Agreed. And that’s why I’m disappointed because he actually wasn’t going to be that superstar even with the better players and top coaching
  6. I’m not bothered about the fee, I’m just really sad that he’s no longer part of the squad. Although I understand the reasons why he needed to go, I’m just gutted about it. I always believed that with better players around Allan (and actually a manager with tactics and good coaching) that he’d become a superstar for us. Sadly that hasn’t happened. I’m just glad that he gave me some little moments of joy at a time when we were rock bottom. I wish him all the best

    Joelinton

I love Big Joe, but I’m thinking that Willock would work better with a Bruno and Sandro midfield

    Anthony Gordon

The price was the main issue. £45m tends to get you fairly close to elite level and he’s nowhere near that level yet
  9. It was a very odd shape and I suspect he tried it to counteract the Villa style. Targett seemed to be getting forward far more than Trippier did and Almiron and Anderson taking up a lot of central positions. I thought Anderson played really well mind
  10. Watched the game back and he didn’t do so well, but the same can be said for a lot of the side. We really struggled with Villa’s pace in behind and the slow build up / quick transition from defence to attack. Hopefully Eddie will learn from this before the league game and adjust. My observations from the 45 minutes he played with Bruno is that it didn’t work at all. In a similar vain to when Longstaff was injured and we just lacked something on the right ride of the midfield three. Both Bruno and Sandro seem to keep taking each others positions and looked like they didn’t know which one of them was doing which role. However, it’s the first start together and that’s what pre-season is for - let them iron this out and get the connection established and I’m sure we’ll be fine
  11. If Barnes is wearing the 3rd kit when it’s announced then he’ll pull me right back in
  12. I really don’t see this as a tactic we will pursue hence why I think Burn and Targett will be who we go with this season. Obviously we need some width and dynamism on the left, but the right side is where we attack / create and shifting the left back to a makeshift back 3 is how we play. It’s similar to what Man City and Liverpool now do
  13. I just don’t rate Gallagher at all, he doesn’t offer anything more than we already have. I’d rather keep the money and play Anderson
  14. The size of these offers are just so tempering. You can set yourself up for life over two years and then come back to Europe
  15. As much as I adore Schar, really want to see a player with pace brought in next to Botman. Or alternatively the left back we target is in the Burn mold, but a lot more athletic
  16. He’s got the technical ability to play on the right and offer something. But whoever replaces Trippier there will be an obvious drop off in quality
  17. Just the £200m spent in 6 months for two central midfield players - madness
  18. Struggle to see who will actually pay that for a friendly
  19. I don’t want him sold as I love the guy. Plus the undeniable uniqueness of his talent is an important point of differentiation to the squad. But a £50m offer from Saudi means we have to sell
  20. Yeah he gives us some recovery pace that we lack for sure. The only issue we have with a transfer like this is the price. Given the budget (whatever that is), would we spend a significant amount of money on him now given that Eddie doesn’t break up a settled defence
  21. Disasi is the one that I want us to sign. Whenever I’ve watched him play I’ve been impressed. He fits our age profile and would slot in perfectly on the right side of defence - let’s make this one happen
  22. Imagine how different the league would be right now if teams like us and Villa (even Everton to an extent) weren’t restricted in the spending that available
  23. Yeah he’s the one I think we should go for on the right side as he ticks all the boxes for us. I’d be amazed if we don’t try for him if he’s up for sale, but you’d think that a +£60m fee may be the issue
  24. Still gave them a really good game and I came away thinking how didn’t we get a goal in the match
  25. I’d buy him just for that recovery run alone
